*Beebee blogger with dads credit card posts ridiculous outfit with 13 too many layers * us: OMG she has on lipliner on ONLY the edges of her mouth. FAIL. Oh and her outfit is atrocious. The j. Crew catalog is not supposed to be worn at one time and then ironically photographed on an empty street *someone: she's Mormon. Lots of bloggers are Mormon it seems *us: why do Mormons have an affinity for fashion blogging? *MAV: I loved the Book of Mormon on Broadway * three people: she needs to resize her blog, the display is wonky *me: still waiting for my dads credit card
People don't like her because she "looks like barbie" and her "daddy buys her clothes"
I don't not like her -- I'd have to know her to say otherwise, and that I do not. I think she is stunning and I like the majority of her outfits and she has great ideas about compiling a total look. The above recap was just in good jest. And she is lucky to have a family that's wealthy enough to contribute to the things she enjoys in life.

Smo, do you think that bloggers that receive freebies are also disingenous? 9to5 and Kendi don't even seem to buy clothing anymore. Everything is listed as "c/o", and is often provided by a brand that the bloggers never wore during the early days of their blogging.
Using daddy's money to pay for outfits seems a tad less disingenous compared to that freebie nonsense.

I have to say, I used to love reading 9to5, but I've stopped. I can't believe all the freebies she gets. It's really ridiculous.
mav & birkbop- I could not control my laughter after reading your recap, then my boss walks over and I couldn't stop laughing to answer his question, then he wants to know what's so funny. oh gosh, that was fun ({) (}) (because no one ever uses the hug emoticon)

I'm not going to address 1 specific blogger, but when bloggers get clothing freebies, their discretionary budget for premium handbags goes way up.
I really don't care how fashion bloggers get their outfits. The purpose of a fashion blog is to provide outfit inspiration. It's not very deep. I could care less about a blogger's stock portfolio or her husband's physical appearance.
9to5chic may be a working girl, but I don't think that she is relatable at all as a blogger. Her pieces are extraordinarily $$$, even if she bought them all with her own money. I checked out the pinkpeonies blog and actually liked it. Nothing about her blog to me screams "unlimited budget". She has a MK (from TJMaxx) bag that I really like. I am a normal working girl and I could definitely buy anything I wanted in JCrew. Lots of people shop there. It's in almost every mall in America. Celine...not so much

Smo, you're not making much sense. You think the PP blogger is disingenuous because she gets free clothing from her father. Following that logic, you should think a blogger like 9to5 is disingenuous because she gets free clothing from sponsors. Bloggers like that get PAID to wear and advertise clothing. On top of that, most of the sponsors are brands that these bloggers NEVER wore before the sponsorships came to fruition. That kind of bullshit is disingenous and insincere to the core.

LOL. It's sad that something as lighthearted as fashion blogging got so deep (at least in my head), but c'mon, you have to point out the obvious at some point...

It makes perfect sense. Some of these bloggers also make blogging into a business. So getting sponsors and free merchandise from their favorite brands is part of the business.
Getting a credit card from your father and buying expensive shit that is 'your' wardrobe isn't business. It's entitlement and most fashion blog followers have to buy their own shit. Or work towards getting their own sponsorships. Saying I can wear $300 worth of bubble necklaces, 3 layers of $90 shirts, $200 flats, and a $500 bag is a joke. Especially when you couldn't if you didn't have support, not from your husband, but from your father.
Understand it now?
Lurker jumping in. I understand Smo perfectly here. I checked out PP's blog, loved the bubble necklaces, clicked the link and discovered the necklaces were $150 fucking dollars. Do you know what I can do with $150 dollars? That's my student loan payment. Or, that $150 can go toward my utility bill ($200 this month). I'm not dropping $150 on a dayum necklace. I work and I make decent money, but that was ridiculous. Now, what I could do is scour the interwebz looking for a similar necklace, but maybe I don't feel like doing that today.
So what happens next? Because this blogger has unrealistic ass pieces of clothing, I won't follow her or look at her blog again. I adore Kendi's blog because the stuff is reasonable. In fact, even her freebies are reasonable. I mean hell, Kendi has freebie shoes that are from Payless!! It makes her credible to your average working adult. You feel as if you can easily adapt her style to your closet.
Can this little wealthy chic blog, sure knock your socks off. But, it's not going to garner same impact as a blogger who takes reasonably priced pieces and shows you how to style it. That's what I look for in a blogger. If an article of clothing catches my eye and I MUST have it, it's nice to know it's not going to cost me an arm and 15 legs.
Sure, ya'll might not have wanted it to get deep up in here, but honestly, I think you needed to have this discussion. You kinda need to know what your audience is looking for when you blog. It's not just see I look pretty in pretty clothes for everyone. For some of us it's, I'm stuck in a wardrobe rut and I need to make my clothes work better. What can I do, what can I add to make it better.

I don't think there is much difference in having a rich husband pay for everything and having a rich father pay for everything. Maybe I'm totally skewed and bizarre because I grew up in South Florida and this stuff is pretty common.
However I just want to say that I don't follow any fashion blogger that primairly buys designers and brands that I can't afford. It's just not realistic for me and I can't relate to it, so I don't read them at all. That's why I like Veronika's blog so much and I like Kendie's too...

This is how I feel too. I don't care what you're perosnal life is like. Wear pretty clothes, photograph them, post them on the internet so I can look at them. That's the extent of my involvement with you

Totally agree with this. They are called fashions blogs becuase is for FASHION and they serve not other purpose than that in more cases. Just because I cant afford Prada is not a reason I cant read Vogue.
