The past few months my cycle has been crazy, 34-35 days long when it's been exactly 28 for the past 5 years. When it does come, it starts as thick, brown spotting and then gets dark (almost black) for a couple of days.
It's weird because my symptoms (pms, backache, leg pain etc) all come at 28 days. Then I'm kinda just rushing to the bathroom every few hours to check if it's there.
My skin has also broken out like crazy, cystic acne all over, and it really sucks!
Here's the kicker, I have no insurance and wont for a few months. Anyone have any experience like this?
The only thing that you've described that I know of as a pcos symptom is the acne. Going from 28 day cycles to 34-35 day cycles isn't that big of a change. The black blood sounds worrisome. (maybe fibroids?)

It sounds like it could be a hormonal imbalance, but that does not automatically mean it is caused by PCOS. There are tons of other things that could cause that. Even stress can cause hormone levels to fluctuate. Are you TTC? If not, I would consider going to planned parenthood or a local low cost women's health clinic and getting on birth control pills until you get health insurance. I have PCOS and birth control pills help with a lot of symptoms.
This sounds like me and I have some PCOS. I limit my sugar and carb uptake and that helps calm a lot of the issues I have. I also notice that if I overeat a lot of dairy, I have these issues as well. It was a lot more manageable when I was on BCPs, but they gave me horrible migraines that I had to stop taking them. What does your diet look look?
