Since we ripped out all the carpet, we have crappy hardwood and plywood floors now, well the dog is used to carpet. She gets in those moods where she zooms around the house at top speed and anything in her way gets run over - you know the ones.
Well she hasn't really had a case of the "zoomies" since we did this, except for right now. She was trying to chase her tail and kept ending up pretty much spread eagle on the floor. Then she did her zooming around and every time she came around the corner she would slide into the living room sideways and her back legs are trying to kick off and start running, but she's still sideways, and it is just hysterical.
I still die in a fit of giggles remembering when she would do this and she ran the cat over. He was sitting nicely on the floor washing himself and she came barreling at top speed and smashed right into him.

LOL, my dog gets the zoomies something fierce. And our downstairs is about half carpet and half hardwood so it's hysterical to watch him try to make the transition between the two.
Also fun is to get him to chase a toy from a carpet room to a hardwood room. You throw one of his toys and he goes barreling after it, only to slide right past it when he gets to the next room.
Lol yes! The toys on hard wood. I'll throw her soccer ball and she'll go running after it only to slide and smash into the door. This poor dog's head has bumped into everything by now. We were watching her walk around the kitchen sniffing one day and she was super interested in something because she smashed right into the freezer door, looks up, looks at us like "you didn't tell me..." and went back to sniffing.
I love it when dogs get the "zoomies." My cat gets them too.
Does your cat "talk" a lot when he/she gets them? Mine is super vocal in general and he gets even more so when he's zooming around, but he will launch himself at furniture and stick to it, just to jump off and keep running.
I love zoomies. My husband didn't believe me at first when I told him that that was the technical term for whatever the hell it is that they're doing, but really, what else could one call it?

Not really. He will stop with his eyes wide open and his ears flattened on top of his head and then zooms off again. He likes to run, jump up the wall and then hit the other all. Oh cat...
And Abby hits her head on things all the time! Walking, bumps her head on the wall. Hits her head on the table standing up. She is not graceful at all.

My littlest cat is unbelievably talkative. But she's not a zoomer, unless you try to approach her, and then she vanishes. She's the skittish one. But when she's not being skittish, she will sit there and just whiiiiinnnne at you. It's impossible to figure out what she wants; she just makes noises.
My oldest cat will carry on conversations. He'll start talking and we look at him and say, "Really, Smoke? Is that so?" and he will continue making noises like he's answering you. It's hysterical.

To us, anyway.
Cosmo also carries on conversations. Mostly if you make sounds like his, though. He has a range of tones and it sounds like he's saying sentences.
The sounds he made in this harness/leash getup were not happy ones.
My dog is gigantic. There is no room in the house for her to do this. But the cats do it all the time. I encourage it by throwing cat treats around and I laugh when they slide into the walls. Does this make me a terrible person?
