Morning everyone - I was catching up on posts and saw Dairy's AD story - it made me lol and choke on my coffee.
My husband thinks he is the BEST clothes shopper. Yeah - whatever - so I just let him think that. For my birthday (Feb 23rd) he was all smiles and happy as he went to Boscovs and got me some clothes. Six pretty wrapped boxes - and all of them were Alfred Dunner. Today (Friday) I have all of them loaded in the trunk of my car and they are going back after work. I know I am 54 and I have gained weight since I broke my ankle but WTF....so I had to laugh! You should see the crap he picked out for me. Stretchy elastic-waist-in-the-back pants in size 16!!! Big flowery tops.....the all-in-one sweater set with the embellishment around the collar.....
My AW is that after 3.5 long months since I broke my left ankle (on Christmas Day), I am FINALLY free of all walking aids and walking on my own. Yesterday my doctor agreed I can ditch the walking boot, and start my PT. Sadly the only shoe I can get on my left foot is a CROC, and a really ugly one at that since I still have alot of swelling. But I will take it! I am independent again.
Hope everyone has a good weekend - we are heading to our beach house to open things up for the season and take Indy out on the boardwalk for some fun. My happy place (hot)
Thanks for listening while I was whining and healing - hopefully good days are ahead. I am trying to choose to be joyful despite how sad I feel on the inside.
The look on your face must've been priceless. If my DH bought me Alfred Dunner, I'd have to cut him off. Of course, if I actually wore them it wouldn't be a problem for him.
Oh man... Hey, 54 is still young! But at least he tried??
Congrats on no boot! If anyone gives you crap about your ugly Croc (no arguments there lol) then just use the walking boot as a weapon.
OH yes - I have thought about that! H and I plan to have a little ceremony tonight - banishing the boot to the attic forever (or maybe take the redneck approach and use it as a planter outside in our garden?)

So glad about your bootless-ness!! Do the planter!!
I'm cracking up about the AD clothes. That's hilarious! I would love to know how that all went down. Did he pick them himself or have a sales lady help?
Related: my mom is a huge cheapskate. HUGE. Probably 30 yrs ago, my dad wanted to get my mom some 'nice' clothes for Christmas. He took his mom with him and they got everything really old lady style (my mom was probably 30 at the time) and brown. My mom hates brown. The clothes are still hanging in my mom's closet, some with the tags!!
Related 2: I'm a big clothing cheapskate like my mom. About 10 years ago for Christmas I got my DH (then BF) the brand new first generation iPod. I had to scrimp & save for it and was really excited to give it to him. I thought there was a strong probability he was going to propose to me for Christmas. Well, he didn't. He got me a $200 neglige from Bergdorf Goodman. I was so upset & bratty about it. It was the same "I want you to have nice things" thinking but I just don't appreciate that sort of stuff. Plus, I had to lie to my parents about what he got me because it felt wrong to tell them he got me an expensive neglige. (I've also never told him this- but I used to see that same brand at Daffy's (think tj Maxx) all the time for $30.)
