I kid, but the idea that we should sacrifice as much and for as long as possible to give our kids whatever slight advantages we can is fucking annoying. Parenting is about illustrating how a functioning adult works too, and that doesn't involve living entirely for another human being.

I only BF to 13 months, so I don't think that counts as extended, but I was the one that needed the therapy. Geezum Petes, my hormones when carazy when I weaned him. All of the PPD I didn't have when he was born, hit me then.
LOL. I'd like to see her stats on that one. I do get a kick out of the whole "child is not BF = no attachment". I think someone needs a lesson in attachment.

Yeah, I BF both kids and got PPD bpth times, so it obviously from my scientific sample of one, doesn't work for the mom, lol.
I don't know if it counts as extended but I am still nursing my 21 month old. :::sigh:::

I think that's what I hate most about it, the implication that if you don't do these things, your kids will hate your face and grow up "detached" from you.

Oh crap.
This could explain a lot for me right about now...... hmmmmm.
ETA: Not you buddah, I have been in the dumps and crazy moody since ds started weaning. I was chalking it up to many other things but PPD at 13 months old wasn't one of them.

Seriously. If they think that is the only way to bond with your baby and have an attachment, I feel sorry for them.

I have hated Alanis ever since I read an interview where she was talking about her time spent in India. She was in some building playing the piano and when she stopped and looked up she was surrounded by strangers everywhere and they were all silently staring at her in awe.
