What are your floors like? We use a steam mop (Eureka Envirosteamer) on our wood floors. But they're rental floors that get refinished with shiny stuff (varnish? I have no idea) every time a new tenant comes in, so I think they're pretty indestructible. In three years, I've seen no damage and we steam mop a lot.
If you have fancy or porous floors, I agree with the others that you don't want to use steam.

Wait, what? Since when is it not recommended to use steam cleaners on wood floors? In any advertisement, you see them use it on wood floors. While I could be wrong, you'd think that they wouldn't advertise something that would damage your floor. We have a Haan steamer & I'll admit I don't use it as often as I should, but it's awesome. The steam gets really hot for a long time.

I steam my wood floors all the time, but I have no clue about parquet floors. My floors are really old wood floors with probably many years and several coats worth of varnish on them. They seem fairly indestructible. IDK!
