I'm active but heavy. I've been over where I like to be since I was pg with #2 (born 2 years ago ), I wanted to lose 45, could probably stand to lose 50-60, but I'm not in the 100+ lbs to lose category.
I've been struggling lately with bad eating habits, lots of carbs and sugar and crap food. I've had a hard time sticking to a plan to lose, mostly because of my poor food choices.
So Idecided to switch to a lower carb plan, eating a lot of veggies and lean protein, olive oil etc, some fruit, ezekiel bread at breakfast, cheerios for snacks. I'm not limitng amounts, I'm not hungry and I'm eating really well. I'm still doing the same level of activity - running every couple of days, 3-4 miles, different intensities etc.
I've lost EIGHT pounds since the weekend. This seems crazy high to me (I'm the person who joined WW and lost 1.8 in the first week when everyone else was losing 4 lbs). I knwo this is early and it will level off, but really.. Is this 'normal' for lower carb? Why is the scale moving so quickly? And should I be eating more calories?
I've never done low-carb before, so I'm a little surprised at the 8-lb loss! If this keeps up, I'll be at my goal before the end of the month ;D
Yes, it's normal. It's mostly water weight - when you cut carbs, you lose a bunch of bloat/water. If you eat carbs, you'll gain it back at a similar pace. It will not continue this fast. If you're not hungry and generally feeling well enough to continue your workouts, you're eating enough.
A lor of it is water weight, but some is def. fat loss too. What you are doing now for food looks really good to me. Keep it up! It is a wonderful feeling not to feel hungry all the time, and to eat quality food. I just cut out all processed food and sugar and have been losing about a pound a day this week. It won't keep at this rate, but it shows how bad the other food is.
Thanks, everyone. I feel great, and when I look at my foods, it looks really healthy and fine. I'm just kind of amazed. I guess the carbs and processed crap really are bad for you. Yikes.
