Chocolate Pretzels - How Early?

How early can I start making the chocolate covered pretzels for V's party this Saturday? I'll store them in Tupperware till Friday and then move them to the gift bags I guess.

Is Tuesday too soon? Will they get stale?

Are they completely covered in chocolate? I feel like as long as they are wrapped/covered well, you should be fine.

Also, what chocolate are you using to coat? Just be aware that simply melting chocolate will not give you great results.

We made chocolate covered pretzel rods at a candy store I worked at and they lasted a long while. They were packaged very well though and individually. Willing you wrap them good, I think Tuesday would be fine. Of course UJ will know much better than me though.

I thought I remember reading that you can freeze them too. I hope so, that's what I was planning to do!
Let me know what you decide because I need to make some next week!

What chocolate are you using? I was planning to do the wilton melt stuff.

I'm making the pretzel/rolo/pecan things today.  (Yertle the Turtles for A's Dr. Seuss party)  I'm just going to throw them in an airtight container and keep them in a cool, dark space.  They should be fine.

It will be pretzels rods and leaving the top inch or 2 without chocolate. I'm using the chocolate from the craft store (AC Moore) specifically meant for pretzels/lollipops. I tested it out before and it was pretty good.

I'm going to eventually put them in cellophane bags tied with ribbon, but while I'm in the process I figured I'd store them in Tupperware. Sounds like it will be okay to start on Tuesday. I'm so nervous about this DIY undertaking! I'm a first timer.

Are you putting decorations on them? Everything I read about cake pops and pretzels says have sprinkles/sugar on hand to coat the ugly ones!

jaime183, yep! I'm doing white chocolate with rainbow, milk chocolate with heath toffee and dark chocolate with oreo. Here is a PIP of my test run:



I used all milk chocolate for the test. And I changed the toffee I was using to something that tastes better.

The top inch or two of the rod won't be covered. Do you think they'll still be okay??

They're done.  Come on over!!  I also made the first batch of candied popcorn, which is kind of amazing.

They will be fine. I just think, how long do you keep a bag of pretzels open in your house? Just keep them in a cool place (not the fridge) so they don't melt!
