Weekend was ok, I am still getting worked like a crazy person, seriously this 3 hour daily commute + minimum of 70 billed hours is starting to kill me.
On Saturday we found and bought a patio set for our screened porch from Pottery Barn and I'm newly motivated to actually start decorating the house we bought a year ago :-)
I was in CT for the installation of my sorority's newest chapter which was exciting. Then stayed up way to late Friday and Saturday catching up with friends.
Have to make it through this week, then have the next 2 weeks off, CANNOT WAIT!!!
I keep forgetting to check in/post here, but I am trying to be more of a regular
Good weekend - on Saturday night we had an overnight sitter (woo hoo!) so I could take DH out for his birthday. We stayed over at the Boston Harbor Hotel and had dinner at Meritage. They no longer do a tasting menu there, so we created our own. 4 hours and way too many glasses of wine later our romantic evening out ended up with both of us passed out. LOL. I keep forgetting that small children age you so much.
Sunday was spent trying to recover, but I have to be honest that Ia m still hutring this morning. The gym was a bitch today.

Ugh, that sounds awful! I quit a job very quickly due to a horrible commute. It wasn't worth it.
We are so behind on decorating! Our house is still pretty bare and we've been there almost 4 years now. That went by fast...
Weekend was good! Saturday was awesome (thanks guys!). Sunday was catch up day: laundry, errands. I started looking at new jobs and got very depressed. They are all the same. I think I need to start thinking about a career change. I also found out that one of my colleagues got another job and will be giving notice on May 1. I'm happy for him, but this SUCKS as this will increase my already overwhelming workload by 40% at a really bad time.

Friday we went to a movie. Saturday we went to the circus and out to sushi that night. Sunday brunch with friends and watched the kids ride their bikes and some water experiments.
Was the circus fun, liveintheville? I remember going to Barnum & Bailey shows as a kid and had fun. I wonder if they still exist.
It was! It's nothing like Barnu and Bailey though. The Big Apple Circus is much much smaller. Good for the little kids and since there are only 16 rows of seats there's not a bad seat. No elephants or anything. Mostly acrobats and such. There were some dogs and horse tricks.
At my old company they used to see the elephants being marched down Mem Drive towards the Garden. This was when they were in Kendall before they moved to Waltham. Unfortunately it was before my time there.
My weekend was relaxing. We stayed in Friday and watched 'this is 40', I really liked it. Saturday I took a morning Pilates class then we went to Freeport and I bought some stuff at vineyard vines and looked at bikes at llbean. We got home later and got take out and watched another movie, this time 'zero dark thirty' which was amazing.
Yesterday we took a really long walk with the dog, then test drove cars. I tried the Subaru forester, the Subaru outback, the VW Tiguan, and the VW Jetta tdi sportwagon. I liked the sport wagon best and we are going tonight to see how much we could get for trade in for my Audi. If its a good offer I might get a new car this week:)

I think you are the only person I know (or "know") who has seen that movie and liked it. I even sent SCM a message after we tried to watch it a few weeks ago, because I thought it was AAAWWWWWWWWWFUUUUULLLLLL, and I knew she'd hated it too. Paul Rudd is on notice for me.
Our weekend was nutty. Saturday, we drove up to NH to see my in-laws for MIL's birthday. But they'd just gotten back from vacation and were tired and cranky, and I was tired and cranky. Basically, we couldn't get out of there soon enough. Yesterday, I'd planned to sit around and do nothing all day, but we decided to go out and grab lunch then run errands. I was so exhausted, and I've been fighting a cold, so I wasn't sure I could stay up and watch all of Mad Men. But I did, and then I couldn't sleep after H accidentally woke me up at like 11:45. Jerk.

I mean parts of the movie were depressing and I thought they were morons for having no money and driving fancy cars and having the big house and not doing anything about it, but I thought it was funny and my H did too. I can see why it wouldn't be for everyone. It certainly was a MM nightmare, lol.

I just thought they were totally insufferable twats, and I couldn't figure out why they hell they didn't get divorced, because they didn't seem to like each other very much. I've liked most of Apatow's other movies (or parts of them, anyway - he's terrible at writing women, and he needs an editor because comedies should not be more than 2 hours long), but I just thought this one was big ole mess.
RockNVoll: I was referring to shirataki noodles (I figured I would post this publicly in case anyone else wants to try them!). Let me know if you are able to locate them anywhere! I plan on checking out the local Asian market to see if the noodles are in stock.
My weekend was great! I had so much fun at the GTG. I wish more people could have made it, but it was nice to have more intimate conversations with rock and noodleoo. They give awesome advice, by the way!
A friend recently told me she liked This is 40 too and all I could think about was how awful everyone here said it was. I haven't seen it.
liveintheville, I would love to see elephants walking down Mem Drive, how cool!
preppy, I wouldn't tell the dealership you have a trade in until you're already done negotiating the price of the new car. That's the advice most experts give. You might also be interested in the article linked in this thread. Good luck with the process--I don't know if you were around when we were negotiating for our TDI Sportwagen but I hope your process goes a lot smoother!
Oops. Too late, but we did already finagle the web price down a little so that is good atleast. I will check out that thread for when we go back. So you have the sportwagon? How do you like it? I am thrilled with the mpg, my current car gets about 17mpg so we would save a ton on gas. Do you like having a tdi?

Ah, now that I see the pic I realize I was looking in the wrong section for them. I probably should have been in the refrigerated aisles rather than the dry noodle aisle. That's OK though, I still picked up two other kinds of noodles we like. See, this is why I need to add a low-carb option to the pantry, LOL!
And how did the rest of your weekend go??? Feel free to tell me to MYOB
They were likely just in a different section, then. I hope they are easier to find on your next shopping trip!
Haha. Totally reasonable question. I do not mind sharing this stuff with you guys at all! It went really well. He cooked me a fabulous dinner and we had a wonderful time together, but I am going to go with my gut (and your advice) and break it off with him. I am dreading having the conversation with him, but I do need some more time to be unattached. Thank you for helping me find clarity!
Also...I realized I may have time to travel in late July. Maybe I can make my trip happen then! Does anyone here feel like traveling to Europe with me?
We had such a nice weekend. Friday we left around 10 am and stopped in Portland, ME on our way north for lunch. We had lunch at this place I saw on Man Vs. Food called Nosh. They have bacon dusted fries! H's sandwich was better than mine, but c'est la vie.
Then we headed north to Brunswick for my volunteer commitments at my alma mater. I spent about twelve hours being enraged by the nasty NAS report (see MM thread on it here: pandce.proboards.com/thread/161116/politics-liberal-arts). We had a wonderful dinner and some good meetings.
Saturday after lunch we stopped in Freeport. H returned four shirts that wore out on the collar after just a few washings at LL Bean. Then we promptly spent our gift card on new shirts for him.
Then we headed down to Portland where we stayed at the Regency for the night. We had drinks at the Armory Lounge, then onto Novare Res (beer garden) for some german beer. We were bummed that other people were using the cornhole court! Then on to Fore St. for dinner. It was good, but I think there are several restaurants in PVD that are better including Farmstead which is like 100 times better than Fore St. Maybe the problem was people had really built it up for me? Not sure.
We left the next day around 10 am and were back in PVD by 12:30 because H drove 85 the entire way home.
DH loves the Sportwagen. It's really his car because I don't drive stick and have my own car. We wanted something with great fuel mileage and also some cargo space, plus he's a bit of a gearhead and a very happy former Jetta sedan owner so this car was a great fit for us. It isn't the fastest off the line, but other than that he's pretty thrilled with it so far.
Which dealership are you working with?
Minuteman in Bedford. I don't need a car ASAP so I have a price in mind and if I don't get it I will walk. I would like something new by end of summer.

The Portland Regency is one of my favorite places in Portland!!! We try to go up 3/4 times a year and love it there! The Armory lounge makes the most delicious red apple martini I have ever tasted. People built up Fore St? That surprises me, it is last on my list of Portland restaurants. Five Fifty Five however, is amazing if you love Farmstead you would love it there.
Friday I don't even remember. I think H went to practice and I wrangled DD.
Saturday was her first haircut. She was SUCH a big girl! The stylist was worried that she'd be a fidgety nightmare, but she sat very still and asked for a blow-out. That's my girl!
Sunday I got my hair cut (and toned down my brash blonde) and squealed when my next sock pattern came out. I live such an exciting life.
Angie thanks for the rec of five fifty five. We will definitely try that next time!
I think Fore St is maybe a little past it's prime at this point. I had sweetbreads that were kind of cold and slimy and for my entree I had this pork dish that was just "meh." The best part of the meal was probably dessert - we split a cheesecake with glazed apricots.
Honestly I thought my dinner the night before from the Bowdoin College dining service was better than what I was served at Fore St.
Late to the party here but that seems to be the trend for me this week
Saturday I had to work. It was suppose to be 9-3 but we didn't get out til 4:10pm. Not fun at all. My sister, BIL and neice came over for dinner though.
Sunday I slept in, went to the gym with H, we hit up the local farmer's market for the first time in ages, went out to lunch and saw the new GI Joe movie (not my pick but it was H's turn to choose so... Then dinner at my sisters, who talked me into going to this pole dancing fitness class. It was fun but there was nothing sexy about my moves lol. I was pretty good with the spin tricks on the pole but try to put the whole routine together? Forget about it. As a parting gift I walked away with two sweet bruises on my knees from all the floor work lol.

That's sad. I went a few times 3 years ago or so and I liked it.
