I am skeptical about this... I have looked it up and it says it's category C. Unknown, basically. She said it only matters once I am passed 27 weeks...
I called because I am having excruciating tail bone and lower back pain and didn't know if I should be concerned or not. She basically said its not dangerous, just painful. Which it is, I can hardly move...
What do you guys think? I wish I could just talk to one of the actual OB's and not the advice nurses!
I had tried it for my headaches but it didn't do anything. So I didn't even try for this, and its so bad I really can't see it helping. I can try it though, I just got tired of taking two extra strength tylenol all the time for my headaches and not noticing a difference.
Yeah, I would def want to confirm with your OB. I remember dreaming of Advil my entire pregnancy. Tylenol makes me nauseous so I had to just suffer through the headaches.
Yeah I feel like it was really odd the way she just said to take Ibuprofen. Every pregnant women wants to take Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol, but we are told not to. Not just after 27 weeks. I'd feel more comfortable taking a vicodin! The Dr okayed those once in awhile if I have a migraine. Maybe Ill do that when H gets home.
I just hope she was right that it is nothing to worry about. Being preg with a twins makes me more nervous about everything.
Go get a topical cream and rub it in. Then get a heating pad and put it on. I had HUGE back problems during pregnancy and thats all that worked. And if you dont feel good about using a topical cream... heat, heat, heat.

Please, please, please don't do this. I'm surprised you haven't had problems with this, @smudgee, but it can cause chemical burns.
I say no ibuprofen during pregnancy. Especially the beginning and the end. The middle is just so controversial right now.
My doc (not an OB, but a family doc that delivers babies as his specialty) told me I could take ibuprofen when I was having extreme rib pain somewhere there in the late middle. He said it was ok, but to limit it to 24 hours. It made a world of difference for me.

I'm on the overly cautious side, so I personally wouldn't. I hate that you're in pain though. Could you take a warm bath, take some tylenol, have your DH massage it a little, and use a heating pad in bed a little while? I know that sounds like not enough, but it could help. Sorry, honey!

i dont know about the new recommendations about ibuprofen during pregnancy so i can't comment on that - but have you tried getting a massage or chiropractic at all? i have to say that if it wasnt for my chiropractor and one really awesome massage that i got in the 3rd trimester, i would have been in much more pain and agony. i didn't take anything for it but i had really bad back and hip pain and my chiropractor worked some magic on me in a couple of visits. we also moved at the end of the 2nd tri and although i didnt lift much, all the packing and organizing left me in excruciating pain everywhere. i had a massage and felt 1000x better! GL and so sorry about your pain
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm just sitting here crying, haha. My H didn't get home until almost 7pm-been gone since 5am and Eli took 2 teaser 20 minute snoozes all day and has been so cranky. I am so mentally exhausted and my back and ass are just throbbing I'd take a bath but our house has a shit fuck shallow bathtub that my fat ass hardly fits in and the cat box is in there all stinky and gross cause my H hasn't had time to clean it, and the heating pad is no where to be found. My H just took Eli with him to the store to give me a break and I'm going to see if taking a shower helps. Or just laying here... Thank you for listening <3
I did take Tylenol but don't notice anything quite yet. That nurse must be off her rocker cause she also said I could take up to like, 2400mg during 24 hours, but would prefer if I didn't take that much... That doesn't sound healthy for anyone let alone a pregnant woman! I have an appt in the 18th and will get all the facts worked out with my actual ob.

That sounds like the dose I was taking after my c-section - 600mg every 6 hours = 4 (600mg) doses for a 24hr period = 2400mg. That is a lot but if you're in a fuckton of pain like I was it really helps! For a preggo, though, I really don't know... when I was preggo last year, ibuprofen was a nono. I feel like we really need an OB or midwife to hang out on this board
