I didn't ask much, because most of my concerns at this point fall under "parenting advice" and not "medical advice."
DS isn't walking or talking, so I did ask when he wanted to see those milestones. Pedi said he hoped that at his 15 month appt he would be taking some steps and saying a couple of words.
I just asked about his speech, Pedi said it was normal for 2nd children not to talk as early as an older sibling. Otherwise, I did not ask anything special.
I am going to ask about her eating habits now that she's off formula, make sure that we're on the right track as far as what/how much food and WCM we're giving her. Also she has a recurring diaper rash so I'm asking about that, although it hasn't been back for a couple weeks now.
I want to ask about her eating. Table foods and even stage three purees are very hit or miss, but stage two purees don't have very many options with good amounts of fat. I want to ask if I should be trying to mix olive oil into it, or if there's something I can do to help her get better with table foods that aren't toast and ravioli.
I'm going to ask again about the dry skin on the backs of her arms and legs. I think it's some kind of eczema. It doesn't seem to bother her, but it was red enough that our builder commented on it the other day.
I also want to ask about how important WCM really is. I would never drink it as a toddler, so obviously I know a child can thrive without it.
I asked about both of these things. She thinks the eczema might be food related but she said to give her a bath every night, then completely dunk her in lotion (she recommended Aquafor), then put on footie pjs. She's greasy in the morning, but it seems to be helping.
As for the WCM, she said she only needs 10-12 oz per day, tops, BUT that includes all dairy. I thought that was interesting since I was under the impression from here that you had to have something. So I asked about almond milk and she said it was really just a sweet drink and not necessary. She didn't make WCM seem like a big deal at all. So personally, I'm going to keep giving her BM and yogurt until her skin clears up and them maybe try to get to 4 oz of milk per day? I'm sort of thinking out loud, but bottom line is she said milk isn't that big of a deal.

Im going to ask about walking and talking, and how much WCM.
Oh, and Eczema. Lou has it.
Also, brushing his teeth. He hates it, and I can barely get in there. My dentist told me to give him some sort of drops(I forget the name) So I am going to ask about that.
I'm going to ask for suggestions on getting him to fall asleep on his own without CIO. I know it's more of a parenting thing than health thing, but when we drop the bottle I'm going to be up a creek without a paddle.
I am going to ask about walking and Sophia's leg strength. It concerns me that she doesn't pull up to stand (only to her knees) and that she really doesn't stand well even holding on the furniture.
I am going to ask about WCM, and table food. Sophia still eats mostly chunky purée with some cottage cheese, banana, avocado that are whole. She has had bread and cheese, and ravioli, and "baby Mac and cheese" but I'm concerned that if I went full table food, she wouldn't eat as much as she should and her nutrition could be lacking. Basically, is it OK to supplement with baby food for awhile.
I might ask about her "talking" because she isn't saying any words really.
Also I'm going to ask about milk because I don't feel like I want to give her a ton of cows milk. She loves cheese and yogurt so I wonder if it will be even necessary to give her milk as well. I try to limit her cheese and yogurt because I feel like she shouldn't be getting TOO many of her calories from dairy products. So then limiting those and giving her a cup of milk to drink seems a bit strange.
When we went last week, I asked about Spencer's picky eating habits and if he had to have WCM. She didn't have much to say about picky eating, except that it was common and to just keep reintroducing different foods. She also said that it was no big deal if we didn't want to give WCM. She said almond milk is fine.
I'm going to ask several questions about eating habits. Should we continue giving her oatmeal every day for the vitamins (like iron) or should we do a multivitamin? How much WCM should she be drinking?
Also I want to talk about treating ear infections with antibiotics every time.
And for future reference when is it safe to give what cold medicines now that she's getting older.
We had our 1 year today and the doc recommend 15 oz of WCM served with meals (3 per day) and snacks when needed like fruit, cheese, or other healthy choices.
So I just googled sample menu for a 1 year old and there's soooo much milk. So maybe I'm totally off on the milk thing.
If you can get your LO to eat the calories they need, WCM is not needed. It's just hard to get a 1 year old to eat a lot of solids so a lot of kids drink calories

spaghetticat, are you still nursing? What lindy just said makes me feel better about DS's reluctance to eat solids. He doesn't drink hardly anything, but he nurses 4 times a day, so he's still drinking a lot of his calories. If we weaned I guess he would just be drinking them through cow's milk? Also makes me feel more secure in my extended nursing. If he was not nursing, pedis would want him to be drinking a lot of milk, right?
I also asked about wcm. Brady is still nursing 4-5 times a day and has no desire to stop. He is offered wcm several times a day and hates it and I have no freezer stash to mix:( She said 18-24 ounces of milk a day when he is fully off the boob. Which I found high and Brady is 28 lbs at the top of the chart. He has been on table foods for 3 months and is a piggie. All of his other milestones are fine walking at 11 months drinks out of cups and straws for water
I'm also going to ask about food/milk intake. I'm going to ask her about seasonal allergies as well. Mine have been really bad this year and I think N is bothered by them too.

Yeah, I nurse her when she gets up, before bed, and sometimes one other time. I also send 4 oz. to daycare with a couple ounces of WCM. I stopped pumping though, and now I'm wondering if I should start back up. Her hives have me freaking out.
I am assuming G is getting a lot through nursing. What do you do on the days you work? Have the solids gotten any better? How's his weight?

We're going on week two of illness (tummy, then cold), and that's slowed some solids progress. He's still letting me spoon feed him some mashed foods, all purees and pouches, but he's not feeding himself all the table foods he was previously. Could be loss of appetite from illness though. His weight is fine...following the same curve since 9 months. When I work I leave 5 oz of BM at home. I was leaving 8 oz until about 5 weeks ago. Those days I nurse at 7, 4, and before bed (&sometimes MOTN). This is my first week to not pump. Sorry about her hives I really don't think wcm is all it's cracked up to be. G loves cheese (or did) yogurt and cottage cheese, so I'm really okay if he just drinks water after we wean. Except he currently won't drink more than an oz or so from a sippy...but I guess he's not thirsty since nursing is still hydrating him?

formerlyllizzyb, I don't have much to add except when V was sick I was terrified she was never going to eat solids again, but it really was just the cold.
I want to ask about allergy testing (she said it wouldn't help us before), whole milk, bottles (he barely consumes any out of a sippy), peanutbutter, egg challeges- when to introduce/experiment with his allergy also about fluoride since our dentist said they will do a fluoride treatment
I'm going to ask about language. She says no words and her babbling has gone back to just lots of dadas and ahhhhs.
Also vitamins. Do I need to continue the Vitamin D. Do I introduce a multivitamin.
WCM consumption. She drinks it just fine and also loves cheese... but I just have always felt cows milk was for baby cows and not baby humans so i'd like to give her less if it's not absolutely necessary.
Her legs are a bit bowed, though she walks fine, I want to ask about that.
She has a sacral dimple on her butt and I always ask her to check that (like she wouldn't anyway).
Teeth brushing. We do it but it's hell and I don't know how effective we're being with it.
