My 10 year old started her period

She's freakin 10 people!!!!!!!
Worst part is it happened over the weekend while she was visiting her dad.  She didn't tell me until last night and didn't say anything to her dad because she was too embarrassed.  I was prepared and already had a box of tween sized pads in her bathroom. 
To me this just seems so young!

Oh my goodness! I feel like that's young too, but I was 13 when I got it, which is late nowadays. Is she handling it alright?

Wow, that does seem early. Mine came on my 13th birthday. How did she handle it without help while at her dad's house? Does she understand what it means? Eeek. I wonder when her twin sister will get it?

I had a cousin who started when she was 9. I was a late bloomer at almost 15. It seems to happen younger these days. How is she doing?

She is doing good. I had already had the talk with both of them. I prepared them as much as possible. I started mine when I was 13. I was "normal" I guess. It's just crazy to me that this happened! I'm not mentally prepared for it, my babies are growing up

She didn't tell me until last night.  She's pretty open with me, but maybe didn't know how to tell me.  They visit their dad from Firday after school until Sunday at 7pm. 
Poor thing, she hid her underwear in her backpack so no one would see.  It's not heavy or anything, but still, seems to be so early to have a period.  They won't be 11 until June.

I got mine at 10 - I was in 5th grade. I think it was almost the end of the school year though, and I was close to turning 11. Poor girl, getting it at her Dads!! I was so freaked out when I got mine

I knew it was coming, but I was hoping it wouldn't. I noticed their boobs starting when they were 9 1/2. They both have hair down below, and they have been shaving since last summer. They went from being kids to adults in the matter of a year. I'm still in shock. I hope this means they won't hit the teens until later though, I don't know if I could handle teenagers and the terrible two's at the same time!

I know!  I'm with her all the time, and she's with him 4 days out of the month.  I had told him to be prepared before but he doesn't listen.  My ex still lives with his mom (yes, I know....)  so I told him to let his mother deal with it.  I told him not to mention anything because she's embarrassed about him knowing.  His mom can buy the right kind, the smaller sized ones, and to have her show her where they are in the bathroom for his visits.

LOL @ Brady Bunch.   Oh the things we remember. 
I was in PE class and thought maybe I needed to poop, I also felt my underwear were wet.   I went to use the bathroom to discover I started my period.  I went to the office to have them call my mom.  My mom came to pick me up from school and bought me the HUGEST pads made on earth and put a ribbon on them.  She said "Congrats!"  to me.  LOL.  Oh mom......

My best friend started hers early also, at like 11 I think. I didn't get mine till I was almost 15 and I felt like such a freak that I didn't have it yet. Getting my first bra was the most traumatizing though because my mom told my dad to give me $ to go shopping and he stood outside the bra section of the store like an awkward weirdo. It was so embarrassing.

I remember being in elementary school and they didn't have anywhere to put my pads in the bathroom stall so I had to walk out with it and toss it in the trash. I was so embarrassed.

I bought there first bra while I was alone out and about.  Just simple non padded at first.  Then they needed to move up in a size.  We were all at Target and I had Chris (my DH) take the younger girls to a different section, and me and the big girls were looking at bras.  They were shy at first, but then they started telling me which ones they wanted.  They have the padded ones now which look fine, it's almost better because no one can see the details in the boobs, just looks like formed cups.  I guess half the girls in their class have boobs and a couple have started their periods.  I'm glad they aren't alone in this at this age.   Makes me feel better.

Poor baby! I would be mortified to tell my dad too at that age. My mom started at 10, so we had the talk very early. I started when I was 11. I was sitting in math class and all of a sudden thought that I was dying. I barely made it to the nurse to call my mom because I was doubled over in pain. When I got home, I went poop and started while l was pooping. I had TERRIBLE periods when I was younger and would basically get the stomach flu each month until they put me on BC to help them.

I got mine a few days after 5th grade ended so I was probably about her age. I don't think it sounds that young! I remember all the girls were embarrassed that they got their periods so no one admitted it but then it turned out that many did around the same age.

I was 11 but I knew what was up because I was a little nerdy researcher. However, I was too embarrassed to tell my mom and ended up hiding all my ruined underwear in a plastic bag in my closet. I had a paper route and when I was delivering papers I noticed all the houses had these maxipad samples inside promotional pamphlets and I stole them all from the whole block! ahahaha.
