My mom watches him now, but it is too much on her to watch him and my niece full time so daycare here we come. My sister is a teacher so she can help out in the summer.
I left the first place crying. It was the pits.
I LOVED the second one, and I feel comfortable with putting him in there two days a week. I feel a little better that we found a place now. I was seriously stressing the f out about it. So yay!
Yay on finding a good place! It is hard to leave them, so you got to trust the place you do and follow your gut! Hopefully he will make lots of little friends!

I'm glad you found a place you love! It was the exact same thing when I looked at preschools for C, the first place left me with a pit in my stomach, and the next one I was totally comfortable at and loved...you just know. He will be at a great age too because he will love being around other kids.
Yay, you will know in your heart when you have found the right place. I left the first 3-4 places feeling sad and ill, then when we found our place I felt happy. We still love our place and DS is 4.5. I love how much my kiddos learn there.

So glad i am not the only one that felt that way! Yes, the first place was like a baby jail. The other places we looked at after the second were nice too, but the second one is the winner! I feel comfortable. I am sure you will get a crying post from me in September on his first day though!

One place had a kinda skeevy guy running it, and I left there crying. One place just seemed sad, like all of the kids were crying at the baby gate. One place had a door right off of the baby room, and when we went to tour, we just walked right in, WTF? Our place is well run, super clean, organized, family run and has a secure entryway.
The first day is tough, I certainly cried. I am such a crier, lol.
I was not too happy at the thought of having to do daycare a few days a week at first, but I ended up finding a really great place I love. Emerson loves going to daycare and it has really worked out for us. You'll find a great place for Lou and he will love it, too!
Same thing happened to me. I had never even been in a DC before so I had no idea what to expect. The first place was disgusting and it smelled so bad - I have no idea how people send their kids there. I about died. The second place I really liked but the third place I knew it was the one. It's a really good feeling when you find a place that you are comfortable with! Yay!

I went through the same thing. It's like shopping for a wedding dress (except that this is way more important). You know it's the right one when you get that feeling!

awww that is such a sad description! The lady at the first place had pink eye or something. Didnt have any locks on the door or anything! No wonder it was so cheap. It was just terrible. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Maybe that is why I liked the second place so much. It looked like a palace compared to the baby jail.

I think I am in the minority but I didn't cry when I left her the first day. I have cried a couple times when I am leaving or put her down she starts to cry, that breaks my heart. What makes me feel better is that I kind of linger for a few minutes everyday as long as there are no other parents and it's not chaos. I talk to the providers and have a good relationship with them. I am always thanking them because she really does get good care. One of them recently got pregnant and she was so excited to tell me, she showed me her u/s and everything. While I was in there another parent came in and she didn't tell or show them. I felt special lol...So I don't know it just makes me feel better somehow that I can chat with them and they don't mind.

We put H in preschool around 20mos. She did great! DH and I bawled outside in the parking lot. D will start 3 days a week in October. It will be easier because H will be there with her but I'm still going to cry. I also think D will cry and I'm not looking forward to that.

We visited several daycares (at least 4-5) before we found the one. We were almost to the point where we would figure out a way for me to SAH, which was not feasible at all. We just weren't comfortable with any of the places. Some places we didn't even go into (don't judge a book by its cover...blah,blah, we definitely did). When we went in her current DC, we just felt really comfortable and put the deposit down on the spot. I think, as parents, especially a mom, you know who you feel comfortable leaving your child with. Congrats on finding a place! I know it's a big relief.

What I thought was really cute, was they even have "date nights." Every other Friday from 6-10 they watch the kids for you if you want, while you go on a date or whatever. Its a cute idea, and nice to have that option even if we never do it. Its extra money of course.

We can cry together. It will be OK!
Deal!
I will say that looking back it was a great decision for H and our family. It will work out for you and Lou too!

Yes! It was like a huge weight was lifted off of me when I walked in. I know exactly what you mean.

My little sister's DC used to do this. They had Parent's Night Out, and the kids would spend the night there. She was a little older (like 4/5), but she loved it and begged my parents to go.
SO glad you liked the second place. I went to five I think and the one I really wanted was full. But I absolutely love Mia's daycare now. She is always excited to see her teachers and never cries when I leave, that makes it sooo much easier!
I felt the same way when I first toured dayares! The first place there were babies crying everywhere and disgruntled looking teachers. There was no way I was leaving my baby there.
The second place was so warm and friendly. Plus, I had several recommendations. V starts in August.
I'm glad you found someplace you really like- I can only imagine how great it must feel to have that process over and done with! Why don't you just move up to NY and I'll watch him? This way he and DD can begin their courting!
