I know this is way past his birthday, but since I wasn't active here on his birthday, I thought I would post it now:) Here is Wesley's birth story. On Tuesday, March 20th, I went to a normal OB appointment. At this appointment the doctor noticed I had gained ten pounds in one week(YIKES), had high blood pressure, and noticed I was spilling a tiny amount of protein from my urine. The doctor advised me to go on bed rest until Wednesday and she would recheck me then. WEll at 5:00am on Wednesday I woke up and felt really dizzy and sick to my stomach. I made my DH go to a specfic gas station to get me "the good ice chips." I thought it was weird because I hadn't felt sick to my stomach like that since I was 14 weeks. At 8:00 my OB called and she said my blood tests came back and I needed to be admitted to the hospital immediately. I had severe pre-eclampsia. We rushed to get everything last minute thing packed and headed to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 9:00. At this time I was only 2cm dilated. By 10:00 they had started pitocin and magnesium. I will never forget the way the magnesium made me feel. I felt incredibly hot and threw up many many times. I felt like I was in a sauna. At 3:00 a resident came in and broke my water. By about 5:00 I was dilated to a 5. Around 8 I finally got an epidural. I was finally able to relax and even nap for a little bit. Around 11:00 I woke up and my epidural had worn off completely so the doctor injected me again. I rested again for about an hour and then I felt the need to push. At 12:15 I was finally at a 10. The doctor came in and I started to push. The magnesium made my muscles really relaxed and weak so it was difficult to push. At 3:57, with the help of a vacuum, Wesley was born. He was 5lbs 12 ounces. As corny as this sounds, it was honestly such an almost magical moment for my DH and I. I had never felt closer to my DH then at that very moment. Wesley nursed like a champ right after. However, the next day things took a turn for the worse. Wesley had low blood sugar and couldn't keep his temperature up, so he was admitted to the NICU. It was one of the hardest things to go through. That afternoon DH went to go be with him and left me alone. I started to gush blood everywhere. I didn't have the remote to call the nurse, so I was just screaming until a nurse could hear me. Next thing I knew there were many nurses in the room. I kept passing blood clots and I was loosing a lot of blood. The nurses had to give me a medicine through an expository to help stop the blood. That did eventually help. It was extremely scary and intense for a while. Wesley was in the NICU for 6 days, but eventually was release. He continues to amaze me every day! TinyPic is taking forever to load, so I will add some pics later!
