Hey! I'm making this recipe right now (The one with Rosemary) and I noticed it calls for a heckuva lot of olive oil. Do you guys use the full amount in the recipe? Just don't want it to be too oily. Thanks!
Thanks guys! @chelsmonster For some reason I thought you had recommended it! charlielove That amount sounds about right. Okay I think I'll use less in the cooking and leave most of it for the drizzling part.

Apparently you ARE supposed to split the oil but I never saw the word "divided" until now. So I use too much and it is still fine. I do remember thinking crap I go through a lot of EVOO when making it. No wonder :-). I'm a big fan of the drizzle and thanks to this post this is going back on the meal plan for next week.
I know you're all waiting for an update with bated breath. I used hardly any oil in the cooking, but close to the recipe amount in the drizzle batch. I liked it, but it wasn't enough sauce for a whole pound of pasta - I like my pasta saucy. I used about 2/3 of the pasta. Next time I'll just double the bean part. Also I lovelovelove rosemary and didn't feel it had enough of that flavor, so next time I'll add some to the bean sauce as well. But Kai loved it!!

Interesting. When we eat it everything kind of becomes one. There is not a big difference in the consistency of the sauce than the noodles. However I cheat and use TJs Mirepoix so I have no clue what the veggie ratios are but I have a feeling it is a lot more than what the recipe calls for.

You need to get some Calivirgin Rosemary olive oil. It is so, so good drizzled on top of the pasta! Also, getting that specific type of olive oil would mean you'd have to come back to NorCal to purchase it!
thedahliharpa what is mirepoix? Maybe I didn't cook the pasta in with the beans for long enough. It might have squished up and melded a little better.
charlielove that olive oil sounds AH-MA-ZING and I want to buy it immediately. My mom is lobbying hardcore for a visit this late summer, so the combo or Probie visit and Rosemary olive oil might put me over the edge.

It is chopped up carrot, onion, and celery. But TJs does the work for you and it is all in one green, orange, white rainbow of time saving container. It is my secret weapon! I suck at chopping.

Hmmm, Dahli, that does sound useful. I don't mind chopping when I have plenty of time and I'm sipping on wine and listening to music. I don't like it when I have 4 minutes to make a full meal out of a bare pantry and my monkey man is climbing up my leg. Pre-chopped sounds very nice.
Charlie I did blend the beans, but the sauce just didn't seem to coat all the pasta very well until I pulled some noodles out. I used a squiggledy pasta so maybe it had more surface area??
IRT wine, I had a great idea when I left CA but I just haven't had time to implement it. I think we should regularly exchange local wines. We have a lot of vineyards in Virginia (where my dad & SM live, not far from me) and I love sharing the local flavor. If I survive grad school we might have to set this up! If I don't survive grad school I'll be busy drinking all the wine I can get my hands on. So it still might work, lol.
Btw, I hate how she writes her recipes. It is so easy to miss steps. I don't want any fucking paragraphs just give me bullet points woman!
YES! I hate that too. I feel like I'm always reading and rereading them.
I agree! I need to C&P that recipe into a word doc so I can just have the actual steps. She's righty about the al dente pasta but I was pretty annoyed by the fifth or so time that I read it on accident.

I love this idea more than words can express. (heart)
