If so, what is it, and if you are able to answer: why? Why do you prefer that brand over others?
I have been looking on pinterest for paint colors that are good for open floor plans and keep coming across "revere pewter" (Benjamin Moore). I'm at the point now that I think I want to get a sample of it at the very least. There is no place very convenient that has Benjamin Moore paint (although I guess its not too inconvenient either.... about 25 minutes away is the closest location... still further than I'd have to drive to get to Sherwin Williams or Home Depot). I know a lot of people love Benjamin Moore paint. So I'm wondering:
What is it? For walls, I like Sherwin Williams Emerald line. For trim/furniture I like Benjamin Moore Advance.
Why is it your preferred brand? Emerald gives excellent coverage, durability and is washable. It also doesn't drip as much as other paints I've used. Advance is awesome for avoiding brush marks.
Also, what is your least favorite paint brand? I don't like Behr Ultra because I felt duped when I used it on walls. It was really not durable and flaked off with a light ding. I tried Glidden once and that was pretty gross.

i like the paint/primer store brands at HD or lowes equally. they are economical, have good coverage and have done well for me. i have actually gotten revere pewter color-matched in both and used both in the same room when we ran out (DH did it w/o my knowledge, but luckily it worked out well). for low VOC option, i do like the olympic brand paint that is low VOC, which is available from lowes.
i haven't had to spend the $ for SW or BM, but have used them when helping friends with paint jobs. i haven't been swayed to switch to them beyond the fact that i love their color selections.
i am not a big fan of glidden, but haven't used it enough to say that it is absolutely a no-go for me.
I prefer Benjamin Moore, I have found that the paint is great and has much more coverage than many. My whole house is painted with BM paints. I just found the colors to be amazing. Secondly, I would use Sherwin Williams, have had great luck with that paint as well. I think they make a great product and if anybody can match a BM paint it would be them.
I wouldn't use HD at all, I think it's terrible paint. I have had good luck with Valspar paints but don't use either HD or Lowes for color matching. They just can't get it right. I would use a local paint store with the proper equipment.
I think with a color like Revere Pewter, I would go to BM. Their samples are inexpensive and I don't think that anybody can match the way the color changes in the light. I am biased, it's the main color in our new house and I love it beyond any color I have ever used. I think many other of their colors can be matched well though.
Do you have a preferred paint brand? yes; and I really tend to lean toward BM colors.
What is it? I really like the Olympic One. for exterior, we used SW Duration.
Why is it your preferred brand? I've only used the Olympic once, but it covers well and is the perfect consistency - no drips. as for the SW, it covered wonderfully and still looks great almost 2 years later.
Also, what is your least favorite paint brand? hate, hate, hate Behr with all my being. it covers terribly. we painted the interior of our house 3 years ago when we moved in and there are so many areas that already need retouching.
2. They sell it at the hardware store closest to me (We were 45 minutes from any paint store or big box hardware). They have a great color selection, it's durable and affordable. They also save my color choices so when it comes to touchups or repaints it's easy to find. There is also very little smell to it.
3. I don't like Valspar. I think it's runny and the smell is atrocious to me.
Maybe it's the kind of walls that we have but I wasn't impressed with Benjamin Moore. Behr has been better and I've had good luck with Sherwin Williams. I had to use so many coats of the BM to get the same amount of coverage that one coat of Behr or SW gave. We have old plaster walls that have been painted a gazillion times and I'm pretty sure have a couple of layers of wall paper lurking below the last ten coats of paint. Oh the fun of an old house.
