Hope your H is home safe, scm! I had the day off, so H and I were at home. Apparently, work was evacuated, I assume due to the JFK Library incident but i haven't been able to get a hold of anyone yet.
DH works right by the finish line (on Huntington, right by the corridor between the Pru and Copley). He texted me right after it happened because he felt/heard the explosions. He took some videos of the chaos - everyone running away from the finish line. They kept people in his building, and he just got home. DS1 and I spent the afternoon chearing the runners in Coolidge Corner. so surreal. The police came by and told all the spectators to leave, but didn;t give reasons, and the runners were still going by....
We went over to visit a friend late this afternoon and HER friend who had run the marathon today was there. She was in town to run from SF. She got to about a mile away from the finish line and said it was just chaos - people were just stopped in the road, there was no information, people were turning around and walking back the other way. So, she turned around and walked back to Brookline where my friend picked her up. She is staying at the Westin, so obviously can't get back there.
We're here and fine. My H works in Boston but luckily they told them to work from home today due to the traffic. I'm so thankful for that. I was at work when I heard. It is so scary, I can't really remember anything like this ever happening in Boston before.

I am so glad that everyone on the board is safe. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the injured folks and their families. This is all very surreal.
I'm so glad everyone here is safe. The last of my three friends volunteering there finally checked in on Facebook not too long ago. Thankfully everyone is safe.
I'm not going to lie, I'm having a hard time with this. Tragedies like Newtown and Aurora seemed so abstract and distant from my point of view. Boston is close enough to commute to. Terrorism is supposed to happen to Other People hundreds of miles away, not in the city where so many of my friends live. I'm sick to my stomach over this.
Glad everyone is okay. I was debating if I should take the orange line home or not so my H just drove in to pick me up. Luckily the traffic was light thanks to the holiday/vacation week.

I agree with you. I just keep thinking of how many times we've gone to the marathon or other events in Boston. The continuing coverage on the news last night was overwhelming. I just want to pretend it didn't happen.

The National Guard were at the Harvard T station this morning when I came in to work. It was definitely disconcerting; I actually felt my stomach drop. I've seen T police, Cambridge police, and the occasional State Troopers there, but something about those uniforms threw me for a loop.
And here I'd just thought things were "normal-ish" because the bus smelled like a brewery when I got on (a typical day-after-Patriots-day occurrence.)
I'm super late to this, I'm in the Hancock building but they gave us the option to work home yesterday because of the traffic/road closures. Everyone that was in the building is safe and the last of our office runners was heard from at 7 last night.
