I'm going to go out there and say I probably don't have too many of any of those things. I live in a teeny tiny NY apartment and move almost every year and purge ridiculous amounts every move.
And I hate clutter. But mostly because my apartment's so small.

I'm guilty of sheets, glasses, towels, cleaning/grooming products, makeup, books, hotel size items, and the bath stuff. The towels, cleaning/grooming products, hotel items, and bath stuff are kind of necessary around here since we have a pool. Everyone shows up to swim, but never has a towel and always wants a shower after they get done. They also don't bring shower stuff. That means 1 towel for the pool, 1 for the shower, shampoo/ conditioner/ shower gel to take a shower with, and extra cleaning in our guest bath requiring products in there. We do donate the hotel items to the shelter my Mom volunteers at and that's why those get collected.
I am guilty of all the categories. But the overages came in handy when we bought our shore house. And FCG makes a great point about having guests over, they don't bring anything. I feel like I run a b&b sometimes.
Everyone tells us we run a B&B. Family is our worst offenders. 2 guests plus DH and I ends up being at least 8 towels by the end of the day. Our laundry room is off the back door and I've got everyone in the habit of throwing towels straight into the washer when walking in the door.
The only reason I am guilty of too many travel size items is because I recently stayed at a W hotel and I hoarded all the mini Bliss products. Wouldn't anyone do the same?
I also don't think we have enough sheets or Tupperware.
My favorite is the bliss toiletries too! I love the lemon and sage shower gel and lotion. My guests never see those toiletries, it's for my secret stash, ha.
Exactly! Those ones are for me when I travel to non W hotels:) Guests can get stuff from the Marriott;)
My top would be books. This is just my "to be read stack" from my blog a few months back, but it still looks about the same with some gone and some added.
Other than that only maybe glasses, but I feel like we need to have them for when we have people over.
Also the soaps - we have a stash of extra bath & body soaps & stuff from when they go on sale, but I know I don't need all of those.
Not on that list I'd say DVDs which are my H's and what fills up that whole cabinet behind the books. We literally bought that cabinet just for the DVDs b/c I can't stand to have them on display.
I do have too many glasses, grooming supplies, and cookbooks. I am probably the only person on the planet who never has enough hangers - I just had to buy another pack at Target this week.
I really don't own too many of any of those things, either. I move a lot, too and purge every time. I also hate clutter! I try not to let stuff pile up. Sometimes I am successful, other times not!
We definitely have too many glasses, and towels. And I probably have too many office supplies too, but I do use them at least. We accidently have started a collection of pilsner glasses from traveling and from wedding favors, etc. and that contributes to the glasses problem. One day we'll set up a bar in the basement for DH and they'll go to use. We do have, and love, the stemless wine glasses though.
Everything else we're pretty good about. I take out dry cleaner hangers back to the dry cleaners when I take new things in. I hate those in closets. I actually need more hangers, or to get rid of some clothes. I love my velvet slim hangers, DH uses the clear plastic ones with metal hooks.
I really need to buy those huggable hangers but am too lazy to switch out 200+ hangers right now.
I showed my H those at TJMaxx the other day, and he totally didn't get it. I tried explaining how they were nice and slim and will keep our clothes from falling/take up less space, and I got one of these
I did the switch to the slim hangers in shifts. Bought a new pack from BB&Beyond every time I got a 20% off coupon and just went from there (they have the big boxes - not just the little packs).
I threw all the old hangers in a box and gave them to goodwill when I was done.

I like this idea!!
One of H's issues is that his mom knits, and one of her favorite projects is taking 2 wire hangers and sort of knitting them together to create 1 substantial hanger.... so he has a bunch of these hangers made with scrap yarn in all different colors. I kind of hate them, but don't have the heart to tell him, lol. That was one of his excuses for not getting them at TJ Maxx, "but I have the hangers my mom makes!". :-|
I'm fascinated by you all that "move often" -- are you a military household? Or just like hopping around to new places? I guess it's easier if you rent?
