Union Sq donuts is moving locations. They will now be directly across the street from Bloc. I have no self restraint. I'm so screwed. I will living on lattes and maple bacon donuts from now on. The sugar and caffeine high won't be pretty, either.

I'm sorry, maple bacon donuts?!! Um yes please. I would have the same problem.
I've been wanting to try these. we move to Cambridge from Brookline June 1 so I think that will make it easier to get over to Union Sq donut. Their are quite a few places I'm excited to live by but also worried about my self control (Flour is 1 worry )
Heavy pastries have always kind of put me off. I'm not really a sugar person in general. I prefer salty snacks. I have a weird food past. My family ate virtually the same meals everyday, and I was awful about trying new things. I didn't even try pizza until high school, and DH served me my first grilled cheese when we started dating in my 20s. That's only the tip of the iceberg, lol.
I guess you're lucky that your family didn't serve you the same junk food every day like a lot of families do. (Assuming this since you didn't eat pizza or grilled cheese - two easy kid-friendly foods)
My UO is that I don't like maple bacon doughnuts. They are too much for me.
scm1011 I see. My family was very meat and potatoes, too. I think of that as superior to pizza and doughnuts, but maybe I am biased! I only recently stopped making a potato type side with every. single. dinner.
No, they fed us crap, just different crap. Dinner every night was red meat + potatoes with no veggies. I probably only ate veggies on Thanksgiving. Lunch was a thermos of Spagettios. They fully supplied my 2-liter of Coke a day habit. Its a wonder I was such a slim kid, lol.
Growing up, I am pretty sure we never had any veggies that didn't come from a can. MAYBE the occasional summer green beans, but that may be it. And I'm pretty sure that's why I still have to force most of them down now. (Except peas. Those are the worst, and I refuse to eat them. I get irrationally angry when they're in something I want to order at a restaurant.) My husband's grandparents always had a garden, so he grew up eating all kinds of fresh veggies, and he does not grasp this at all.
And pinkroses, I don't think I like the sound of a maple bacon donut either, so we can hang out over here. But I don't really like maple period. I usually don't even add syrup to my pancakes/waffles. (Yet another reason my H thinks I'm a weirdo, heh.)
