We'll probably go frequently during the year, and wind up getting annual passes. However, due to proximity, I don't consider Disneyland a vacation.
Yup. (But sub Disneyworld.) We've done the annual pass thing this year since we can take DD for free. It's been a blast, primarily b/c we don't have to cram everything in over a couple days. We'll pick a park once every other week and enjoy a fun Sunday afternoon.
I would go a few times, but absolutely not every year or every vacation.
I grew up going to Disney A LOT. I went 11 times from 2-17. We did other vacations too, but I think we could have gone half that amount and it would have been better.
This exactly. I'll admit that I totally loved Disney, and can see the appeal of going a lot. But not as the one and only place we ever went on vacation.

H and I go every year or every other year. Growing up I used to go every other month. I don't think of Disneyland as a vacation. It is a trip. Since I have family near there, Disneyland is accompanied by spending time with my family.
No way. And I live 30 minutes away from the place. I think I've been to the Magic Kingdom three times in my life.
I want to travel, see the world and experience things. I get annoyed when people say they've been to Orlando, only to find out they've just been in the tourist area. Disney =/= Orlando! lol

I like to go often, as an adult. It's fun. It's easy. I would say we go on about 2 or 3 trips (to all kinds of places) a year and end up at Disney every year and a half or two years.
I'm curious about the non-disney folk. I mean, I wasn't really into it before we went, but it just oozes happiness, magic and fun. What's not to like? Yes, it is expensive, but I am honestly curious about how people can staunchly oppose something so....happy.
Is it the commercialism aspect?
I was anti Disney. Thought I would hate it since amusement parks and crowds make me stabby. Then we took the kids in February and it is magic. I cannot wait to go back.
Eta: iif we have funds and vacation time to go to Disney and other places, I would go every year.

I had the same reaction when I went a few years ago before we had kids. The only reason we went is b/c I had a conferenece there. And even then I probably wouln't have gone if dh hadn't wanted to go. I loved it. I loved it more as an adult than as a kid. And I don't think it's expensive either. I mean it IS, but I think it's a good value for what you get. I think it's a better value than all the other amusement/theme parks I've been to.
ETA- To answer the question, no, that wouldn't be our only vacation of the year though I would go yearly if we could afford it.
But we do vacation in the same place every year. It's a place special to me and my family and I have a hard time imagining not going there every year.
I've been twice. Once when I was 5/6 and when I was 23 for my honeymoon. H and I have talked about taking our future kids someday and we're super excited about it.
no way. i hope to go twice. once when he is under six and once when he is an older kid (like, 10? or 11?). and then NEVER AGAIN!
i didn't even love it when i was a kid. i mean, it was fun, but i would have been just as happy to go to canada's wonderland, which is a mere 30 minutes from my house.
OMG Canada's Wonderland!!!
We used to go to Marineland all the time because it was so close and then one year we went all the way up to Canada's Wonderand. SO much better!
We went twice in six months when DS was 2.5 and 3. We typically do two vacations a year and I would gladly do Disney once a year, if it fit the budget/calendar, but not for every, single vacation.

We live about 4 hours from Disneyland and we go every couple of years. I would also go every year, but not to the exclusion of other vacations. I have friends who go every month.

I went to disney when I was 12. I didn't enjoy it.
No way. But then again, I am not much of an amusement park lover. I think every kid should see it at least once, and a few times if given the opportunity, but I would not go once a year every year.

That's how old I was too and I didn't like it either. I think it's too old for disney. But as an adult I loved it. We plan on taking LO around 5 y/o.
SDs were 10 & 11. SD1 was an "old" eleven and was too cool for school but liked the roller coasters. The day we went to Universal was her favorite. SD2 was a "young" 10. She took pictures with every Disney character lol.
