If you had small children and funds for vacation every year, would you go to Disney every vacation?
I have a friend who does this and it seems so odd to me. We went, we'll go again, but EVERY vacation? My friend is rich too, so this makes it weirder to me.
Maybe I'm just not a "Disney" person. I don't know.
I think it's a little different for me, because I have lived near Disneyland my whole life. Growing up we went at least once a year (even a few school trips). LOVED IT. But we also did other vacations.
I would think it's odd to only have Disney vacations. Disney is fucking expensive these days.
If I was rich and had children, we'd all have annual passes and go at least once a month. But we'd also go away on vacation to something not Disney related.
This exactly. I'll admit that I totally loved Disney, and can see the appeal of going a lot. But not as the one and only place we ever went on vacation.

No. Once, maybe twice in the kid's lifetime. I like to visit different places and since we live in a smaller town with little diversity I want to widen DS's world view.
Stupid thing posted before I was done. We'll probably do Disney while he's younger and go back to Central Florida and visit Universal when he's older.
I think it is nice to take kids at some point, but I can't imagine Disney ever being my thing, even with children. There are lots of other places that can make kids very happy that wouldn't make me want to rip my hair out.
I should also say that I don't know that I'd want to go anywhere every year. I like going to different places.

I'm curious about the non-disney folk. I mean, I wasn't really into it before we went, but it just oozes happiness, magic and fun. What's not to like? Yes, it is expensive, but I am honestly curious about how people can staunchly oppose something so....happy.
But I have a unique situation. I worked there and have tons of friends in the area and get in for freeeee. And we mostly drink around the world.
If I did not get in for free, the answer would probably be no since there are other places we like to visit too.
Is this in Epcot? Is it something other than walking around and getting booze from every country? Which sounds wonderful.
I'd like to make the most of Epcot, I feel like we're missing out on Epcot. Do you have a favorite restaurant? Something that ties-in with the fireworks?

Is it the commercialism aspect?
I think it is cheesy (I know that's different with kids, though), and when I travel I like to either relax or experience culture, and neither is accomplished at Disney. So I'd much rather go to Europe or an island, for example.

Oh, it is most definitely cheesey, and that is what makes it fun if you can forget yourself for a little bit (IMO). People go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time, and service is exceptional. I think a lot of it depends on how you approach it too. We went with the attitude that we are not going to try to DO ALL THE THINGS, and if she wanted to ride the mermaid ride 5 times, well, so be it. It wasn't as relaxing as a beach vacation (and Lord knows I love to plant my ass on a chair in Aruba and get up only to eat and pee...not even kidding), but it was way more fun than I was anticipating. Maybe it was the fact that I was there with a kid and was seeing it through her eyes.

This is how we do Disney.
And we also kept L up late so we could all sleep in. I think 9 was as early as we got up and 11:30 the earliest we got to the parks.
Same for us, adding in that the only time I will go to Disney at this point is the first week in December at least until Jax is in school. I am not sure if I could handle Disney at this point with crowds.
We went every year as kids and I am sure we will do the same with Jax. Once we were a little older we would do Disney for a few days and then either go to the keys to snorkel or go on a 7 day cruise, I can definitely see doing that.
I wouldn't go every year. We needed a week to recover after going last time. This is a pic of my SDs on the way to the airport to give you an idea:
Plus, I like doing different things. My parents took us to the same beach every year and now, they found a house they like so they only go when that house is available. I want to see the WORLD!
We went every year when I was a kid, but my grandmother lived in San Diego and that was basically the only place we vacationed. We live in LA, so yes, I think when we have kids we will probably have passes and g monthly, but on weekends, not as vacations. My vacations involve the beach and doing nothing if I can get away with it.

this is exactly what it is. It is fantastic.
If you are looking for a restaurant that allows you to see fireworks, I recommend rose & crown or the sushi part of Japan. I can't recall if you can see the fireworks from Canada, but that is a big favorite of friends of mine.
