What was up with Don at the end getting in that big argument with Meghan in the dressing room after the came to the show? Why does he have such a problem with her kissing a guy on the show? Sounds like mommy issues.
Don is an asshole. But in his defense, Meghan had made it sound much more like it was going to be an innocuous school-girl kind of kissing and not a more passionate love, and he had to endure that horribly awkward dinner where they basically invited them to over to screw, so I could see how he would be incredibly uncomfortable with the situation. That doesn't excuse his asshole-ish behavior, but given the broader context, I think it would have been strange if he wasn't uncomfortable, kwim?
I like Harry. I think he's a bumbling idiot, and loved his defense of his secretary. What he said about Joan was horrible, but I can also see his perspective. Imagine you were in his shoes and you thought your coworker slept her way to the top. Obviously we know that Joan's story is much more nuanced than that, and pretty fucking shitty, but from his perspective, that's what it looks like. So while I'd rather be Harry than Joan, but that still doesn't mean Harry's position is enviable. He's done a shitton of work for them, and it doesn't make sense that Campbell and Cosgrove are partners, and he isn't.

Is Cosgrove a partner, too? I agree with you 100% about Harry.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also always had the sense that Harry didn't come from the same kind of privileged background as Pete or Ken. And that Harry's wife wasn't as "society" as either of their wives.

I agree that Harry's background isn't quite as privileged. Actually, I don't think a lot of these guys come from privileged backgrounds but they just were lucky to go to elite schools and marry well. Harry didn't, and he's sort of scraped his way up. Even though he's a jerk, they all are. I find Harry has a sort of endearing jerkiness.
I thought Cosgrove became a partner at the end of last season? But maybe I'm imagining that.
Don is fucking the neighbor and he has the gall and audacity to get worked up about Megan kissing a man for a scene on TV. Piece of shit, I say.
Oh I agree. But I'm trying to imagine myself in his shoes - My husband tells me there'll be a little TV-safe kissing and handholding, then we go to dinner with the fake lover and spouse, who invite us over for a groupscrew, then I go to watch the acting, and it's all racier than I was lead to believe. I'd probably be pretty frustrated with everything.
I think his reaction was way inappropriate and he's a horrible person, but there's little tiny part of me that can sympathize with why he might feel hurt and angry in that instance.

there was that meeting with roger when he was telling him they were going after his father in laws business since ken wouldnt do it himself. roger offered to make him partner and he said no. he said he only wanted pete (or don?) off of everything he did.
Oh OK that is what I was thinking of then. But my point still stands - they offered to make Ken a partner. They should have done so for Harry too.
I get where Harry's coming from, but part of the reason he's not partner is because he's such a fool and an asshole, and that's not particularly good for business. Maybe it is with the TV people, but not with the clients. I'm kind of surprised he didn't fuck up the meeting with Dow, that's a little out of character. He should also absolutely realize the value that Joan has brought to the company, but of course he wouldn't, being a sexist asshole.
Don totally took his bad day out on Megan. His first reaction was pretty decent, and I think in keeping with his very "don't rock the boat" approach to her since he started fucking Mrs.Doctor (you had a miscarriage? Do you want stuff? I want stuff that you want"). Then he felt screwed over by Peggy, and doubly pissed because he thinks that's all his own doing, and took it out on her, like he took it out on Peggy at Cool Whip when he was pissed at Megan for quitting.
My God that club Joan went to. It is not 1960 anymore, toto.
