I thought this was a good one.
I am not a big UNFRIENDER but I do hide people a lot. I hid a woman I work with who talks like she is a kid. She is in her mid 40s and says things like "I hope my day gets betterer, this gal need some BL.. cheers bitches" She also made a status about throwing her panties at the TV because Jordan Knight was on it. EWwwwwwwwwwww
I unfriended an old HS friend after he made racist comments around the shooting in Fla where the security guard murdered the young boy.
I also unfriended a kid I went to HS with commented on a question I had about disciplining for lying. My post was something like "So, give me some tips on getting through to my 6 year old about lying" I got some great tips but this guy .. what he does is he puts his girls in a cold shower. that is how he disciplines them. And he defended it and said its a good punishment because its a humiliation tactic. Yep UNFRIEND. bye bye
I defriended a friend for defending George Zimmerman and basically trying to say that Trayvon Martin was obviously doing something shady and that's why he got shot. And I know she knows I defriended her because she still occasionally messages me about book recommendations. So I know she realizes that I'm not in her friend's list anymore...
I defriended everyone and got rid of Facebook because the only people on my feed who ever updated where the ones who either made random political comments or gave a daily play-by-play.
I don't think I have ever defriended someone. I have a hair-trigger "ignore" finger though.
I would apply imoan's criteria, though, if the issue ever arose. I'm just apparently not friends with any complete assholes, just mildly annoying people.
My other quirk is people who talk about buying a puppy or breeding their dog. I will usually be a chicken shit and make a snide comment about it and then unfriend. Because I'm not just bitchy, but also passive aggressive. win win!

I usually only defriend for racist comments. Some people are annoying, but I just hide them. Every once in a while I like to check out their crazy. I defriend people who are obsessed with their business especially Avon, Scentsy, Pure Romance, etc. I know I could just hide them and block them from sending me invites, but it feels better to defriend them.

I ignore a lot but have never defriended anyone. Racism and homophobia would certainly be reasons to.
I know of only one person who has defriended me. I had a fight with my BIL (SIL's H) on Facebook about him threatening SIL's life and calling her names. He defriended me afterward.

If you try to sell me shit, you're gone. I don't want to hear about your cloth diaper store, I don't want to know about your scentsy crap, I may want to buy some of your Avon stuff, but if that's all you post about, you're out of here too. I don't unfriend the morons, I consider it reconnaissance.
The only people I've unfriended are exes, for obvious reasons. I'm never on FB so anything else is completely lost on me. If anyone has ever tried to be passive aggressive with me on there, they've failed miserably.
I'm like fuss. I don't think I've ever unfriended someone, but I've blocked a few. Most recently it was my H's aunt, who kept posting animal rights shit with graphic, graphic photos.

I've defriended a few people just because I didn't even like them in the first place. Otherwise I hide people, primarily those who post a lot of political stuff that I vehemently disagree with.
I've never had to do it, but I have ignored people. They're the ones who suffer from benign diarrhea of the keyboard. I seriously don't care to know what you plan to make for dinner every damn night, nor do I care that you're selling 31 bags.
I've only been un-friended once. It was a girl I had been friends with from middle school through HS. I didn't have another way to contact her anymore, so when her sister passed, I sent her a condolence message and included my phone number and said to call me... she un-friended me instead. Whatever. Seems lame.
ETA: I don't friend everyone under the sun. My friend list is pretty small. If I wouldn't consider you to be a friend (or family) IRL, I'm not friending you on FB.
I most recent unfriended someone for 15 too many offensive, sexist status updates. Some were downright disturbing. He was an ex-coworker.
I'd unfriend for racist, homophobic, and sexist stuff. I've also unfriended because we no longer work together and I only accepted so as not to be rude.

I've unfriended if someone gives me some passive aggressive BS that gives me the hint that they'd rather not be on my friends list. I've had one who just stopped contacting me at all, deleted things that I would post on her wall, & generally made it clear she was done with me. So, I told her I was done and that she knew how to contact me if she wanted to. I made multiple attempts prior to the unfriending to see if there was an issue. No response. So buh-bye. That has happened something like 2 times.
I will unfriend for racists, homophobic or excessive religious BS. There is is one girl that is attending a religious school in the SE. She is dating a preacher. If she tries to post a status it goes down in flames with these self-righteous steeped ass-deep in theology motherfuckers that have no lives except to prove how holy they are over the internet. I unfriend those types.
Also, don't post stupid pictures of you doing things and then wonder why your dumb ass gets fired. A college friend of mine did that and then pissed/moaned about it on her status. I told her she was a dumb fuck. Unfriend.

All good ones. Ya I agree I have a friend on there who posts literally about 17 status updates per day.
I just made breakfast and the sun is out NO SHIT SHERLOCK
I am running to the store but have to take the dog for a walk first SO FUCKING WHAT
And my all time favorites is when she posts about where she is traveling too and is sure to "check in " at each place. Good job asshole, don't cry on FB when your house gets robbed

::nods head:: Yep, I have one of those too. Right now, I know exactly where she'll be all weekend long. As does everyone else on the internet. I never know whether to be amused at her or ashamed for her. Sad thing is, she's a really smart girl... Just goes to show that all the book knowledge in the world can't equate to good old common sense.

I don't mind these people at all. I have several on my feeds and honestly they are usually uber social people who would post if their house was robbed and recover from it with very little emotional turmoil.
I've never unfriended someone, but I have less FB friends than I invited to my wedding, so I guess I'm just selective to begin with. I do ignore over-sharers sometimes - they're mostly cousins.
I think I went through a cleanup once where I defriended people that I just didn't care about or didn't consider to be an IRL at at least one point in my life.
If I get flameful posts on FB, I haven't seen one.
Lol I wonder who in this post posts a FB checkin every two hours....
Not I!
I've posted a status update once. It felt ridiculous and I've never done it again. I'll post on other people's stuff, but I never really start my own... kinda like on here. I never start threads.
I have a friend who was defriended because she kept talking about her gay friends. Apparently, someone we went to middle school with does not approve of "that lifestyle."
I actually defriended on other person because she Vaguebooked every day about all the "haters". It was either defriend her, or finally respond that it was amazing that she had so many "haters" at that maybe the common denominator in those equations (read: her) was the TRUE issue.

I unfriended my bestfriend's husband because he was constantly posting negative things, complaining about his life, and bitching about people he'd come in contact with.
It caused a huge shitstorm between him and me, and also between him and my friend.
