I was just looking at the EWG website and reading about the 2012 sunscreen ratings (the 2013 ratings haven't come out yet!). Something you all should know: A lot of sunscreens that are in a "baby" package are the exact same formulation as the adult version!
"For some brands, the only differences are on the label – not inside the bottle. We found that 16 brands in this year’s crop feature products that list the same ingredients for both baby and adult sunscreens – down to the exact amounts of active ingredients. Among them:
Aveeno Baby Natural Protection Mineral Block Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 30 Aveeno Active Naturals Natural Protection Mineral Block Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 30 Coppertone Kids Sunscreen Stick, SPF 55 Coppertone Sport Sunscreen Stick, SPF 55"

We also don't have a huge variety here. I got a few samples from our pedi, and I think I've found one based on zinc oxide that isn't horribly white and gross. But it's in nano proportions, which can apparently cause problems if it penetrates too deep into the skin. Studies have shown that it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I feel like I can't win with the sunscreen stuff. And I spent years putting sunscreen with hormone-disrupting chemicals on H.
Anyway, it's a great website with so much info if you're interested in reading more on the chemicals in sunscreens.
I use Badger for Kai because it seems to consistently get a good eval from EWG. Interesting about the adult/Baby formulations - sometimes I think I'm too cynical, and then I read something like this.
Interesting, thanks for sharing! When I asked the pedi about sunscreen he said the same thing: basically kids sunscreen is the same ad most adult just with a different bottle and higher price tag.

Stuff like this makes me realize how naive I am!
Me too! But, I am also cheap. So my guilt at buying the adult stuff seems to be misplaced.
