and i dunno what/why LC said..but pumping isn't (supposed to be) a good indicator of your milk supply...but the nursing for 40 mins and still wanting milk, is.. hope the powerpumping does it!

spunbutterfly, just wanted to let you know that when I was having issues BFing M (well, I had a ton of issues, but that's not important here), I took this supplement:
It has goat's rue in it which is supposed to help stimulate your glandular tissue to help you produce more milk. It did help me, even with all of my breast issues.
There is also this book that I swear by and will use again with baby #2 (it has a TON of good information):

Once I went back to work I was only able to pump two ounces a pumping session. It quickly went down to nothing and bkb was having weight issues. It completely stressed me out which made my supply worse. I totally feel your pain. Good for you for keeping with it.
Breast feeding and working full-time is definitely not always an easy thing so for any of you moms who are struggling with it don't knock yourself down because it's not working as you hoped it would.
As for taking supplements I have been taking several different supplements since she was 2 months old to help with supply. Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek, Milk Thistle, Also something else to consider is if you are feeling stressed about it try taking a B12 vitamin in the morning. Stress transfers to our little ones whether we like it or not, which could also very well affect their sleep patterns.
Right now I'm super tired though and can't think as clearly as I'd like so I'm not going to add more tonight but maybe when my brain is more awake I will.
Spun--Thor can't have diary right? Is there a non dairy alt to butter? I've been putting butter in Blb's mashed veggies/sweet potatoes for some extra calories.
Are you referring to upping fat intake? Avocado and coconut oil are the go-tos i've heard.

we use coconut oil and peanut butter. we try avocado, but bjl doesn't like it.
So, after our first day of doing everything I can...
* oatmeal with flax seed for breakfast. * making sure to eat something every 2 hours at the very least. (go to snacks: carrots and hummus/chick peas) * drink at least 3 of my camelbak full of water. * drink as much mother's milk tea as I can get and remember to change the teabag at lunch. * pumping for an hour this morning at work (I'm lucky to be able to pump in my office, I know.) * take my go-lacta 3x a day (3 capsules) * made and drank walnut milk (adding some to my oatmeal tomorrow) * pump in the car on the way home (my husband drove) * pump at 10pm.
Maybe I'm just lucky, and today's a fluke, but my pumping levels have increased by an ounce at each pumping session all day. I guess we see what happens tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not a fluke today.
@johlise: Do you just take the blessed thistle capsules on their own? I have a bottle I'm not sure how to take in.
Yup.. I just take it along with all my other vitamins I take every day.. Usually with a meal.
Oh, that's really great to hear, spunbutterfly. Feeding problems are so stressful! And when they're little, when they last peed / pooped can have a noticeable effect on growth stats, just to keep us on our toes. Not to mention growth, sickness, etc.
