I mostly lurk here, but have posted/responded throughout the years....
If you aren't the average runner, person who works out, dieter, and you recently (say since January 2013) began getting healthier, fit, etc. - how long was it before you began seeing results? I have always weaned and wained on different programs (fad diets, exercise, C25K, etc.) and started the Insanity DVD's about a month ago. Something in me clicked. I don't know why, but as hard as this workout is for me, something inside keeps making me hit play the next day and do the routine.
I've never been a bad eater, in fact, I have always eaten somewhat clean, with the schmigettes of chocolate binging (my only craving). I walk my dogs 3x a day at minimum and that wasn't doing it for me. I am 35 yrs old and 5'6" about 145lbs, and really wanted to be fit for Summer and well, just overrall. I took on Insanity - a big feat for someone who didn't workout (more than the walking dogs).
Do I love it? NOPE, but I am beginning to like it and actually don't mind hitting play on the DVD every day when I come home from work.
I am someone who needs instant gratification when it comes to these things, hence the reason I've been through many fads. I did a TON of research on Insanity before getting myself involved with it, b/c I didn't want to fail at it. I really wanted to complete the program and not give up; as I have heard it takes a while to form a habit (anyone know what that time frame usually is to actual form a habit?).
So overrall, how long before you saw results in your body, attitude, etc.?
Like I said, I am 4 weeks and 3 days into this, and I really see changes in my attiutude BIG TIME. I am very conscience about what I eat, and I am beginning to like hitting play. I look forward to it (just a wee bit) for stress release. Yesteday was a big milestone for me, b/c it was the first time I got Aunt Flo when doing this program and usually I throw in the towel when she visits and use that as an excuse to not eat right or exercise, but after she showed, I was all, f*ck you Aunt Flo, I am doing this regardless! I am telling you - that was HUGE for me! I was so proud of myself.
I haven't noticed a TON of changes in my body just yet. I took pictures at the beginning and measured all parts of my body. I will take them again at the end of this week and then again in another 4 weeks. I am trying very hard not to worry about the instant gratification, the pounds on the scale, or the measurments every.damn.day as I would have in the past. I am thinking of the long term goals and the new routines I am building for myself. It's a work in progress for sure!
I am just curious as to what your journey's were like and when you started noticing changes. Yesterday, I came on here, and read a post by lauren170 and saw her blog. I was in tears after reading about her journey! VERY INSPIRING!
If you have a blog similiar, with a journey of how you got to where you are, please link it here. Looking for inspiration each day! Thanks for listening, if you got this far!
I started the begining of January with personal training and some different classes, including Insanity, and it took me about 6 weeks to notice much of a change and a full 8 weeks to see the number on the scale really start to drop.
When I did insanity a couple of years ago I never saw the number on the scale go down. I was a lot stronger, and had more stamina, but I didn't see much for physical, visual results.
It usually takes me 6-8 weeks to see results. I lost a lot of weight (55 pounds) over 2 years. It was slow and calculated and I haven't put it back on in almost 5 years. Changing your lifestyle takes time and effort. I would try to focus on the way you feel after a workout for the "instant" gratification that you want to feel.
It took me about 6 weeks to see changes in my physique and probably 12-15 weeks for anyone else to notice. I lost 30 lbs on 2012. I've been struggling to lose the last 5-8 lbs. It's hard!
