Have y'all seen this article or any of the hubbub regarding OKC Thunder Cheerleaders and CBS Houston? As someone who has struggled with eating disorders, the whole situation is appalling to me but I think this article is really interesting.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."
That's crazy! While I know that many professional cheerleaders have extremely fit looking bodies, I wouldn't say that she is fat, nor would I think that she couldn't/shouldn't do that job. Before I clicked on the article, I was expecting to see a much larger woman -- not that her being much larger would make the criticism ok -- but I was pretty surprised to see that she is, what most people would think of as, an attractive and healthy woman who looks great!

I don't get it...the CBS Houston blogger just took it upon herself to call out this woman as too fat to cheer? Like unprovoked? Was the cheerleader like..fired for this? Does the TEAM have a problem with her weight?
That's not even newsworthy--and it's bordering on slander. I'd be tempted to sue their asses off.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be so perfect that I felt like it was appropriate to comment on, judge and otherwise humiliate another human being.

I posted this article elsewhere with the S/O question what can we do to make this stop on a personal level or widescale and the prevailing (nay, just loudest lol) opinion was that "as women, since we judge ourselves we can not expect the media to NOT judge us"...... SMH. And "maybe it sucks but she's a pro cheerleader so she signed up for it"......
(Excuse me, ladies, while I go barf and then burn my bra.)
Are you fucking kidding me? This pisses me off so much I honestly can't type out a coherent response right now. But when I can, I am going to make as much noise as I can about how disgusting I think CBS Houston is for asking this question.

Yeah, Yeah. We do judge ourselves and she is in the spotlight but all of that misses the point entirely. SMH. It's insane that the reporter, or anyone, feels like they have the right to have the right to judge anyone else's body, either in a positive or negative way. It's actually pretty sick that we even judge our own.
There's another really interesting article linked within that one of a photographer who takes pictures of other people judging her in public places for being overweight. It's disgusting. People suck.
