Can you ladies help me think through things I may be missing?
My first marathon is Saturday and we leave tomorrow morning to travel for it. It's supposed to be around 60 degrees with a 70% chance of rain (womp womp).
I have a poncho to wear until the start. I have a brand new body glide. I have dry clothes packed into DHs backpack for the finish. I'm wearing shorts and a tee + starting with a throw away long sleeve tee. I may or may not race in my compression socks but I'll bring them just in case. I have a visor.
Anything you would do differently for a rainy race?
If you are running with your phone or iPod, put them in a Ziploc bag and run the headphones out of that. I did it for a rainy marathon and it worked great.
Also, pick a color of sport bra that you can run in without a shirt. My shirt got so wet and nasty that no amount of body glide would keep it from chafing. I had to just take it off halfway through.

hat & sunglasses.
pinkwillow & I ran a half in the pouring ass ran last March. Wearing a hat was the best thing I ever did; it kept the rain out of my face (for the most part). Other than that, just try to have fun.

Oh my. I'm smaller than I've been since high school but 2 kids later and I don't know that anyone needs to see my stomach flopping. Yikes. (I know, I shouldn't care and no one else will...but still) I am hoping my DH can find me along the way and give me the chance to re-glide.
I definitely second and third the hat. that was huge for keeping the rain out of my eyes. I ziplocked my ipod and it was fine (even after I accidentally washed it in the baggy. haha). I also vaselined my feet. NO BLISTERS!! yayaya.
Depending on if it is going to be warm, a pair of flip flops for afterward. I am always super happy to take off my socks and shoes after a long race, and having to shove them in shoes that are going to get wet in 2 seconds does not sound fun. Everyone else pretty much covered it though. Absolutely a visor or hat, and ditto whoever recommended tight/compression clothing!
