Okay, obviously I'm 100% for surrogacy. I'd do it if I could.
But I am watching this on demand, and one girl went through an agency, etc. The normal channels.
This other girl is using more, unconventional methods. She found a couple online, and she agreed to use her own egg, and allow them to inject the intended father's sperm into her manually. At their house. Like she puts it, "he does his business in the other room, his wife fills up a syringe with his sperm, and then injects into me. Basically I'm a human twinkie (smiley face)." And she is married.
I am kind of WTF over this. Mostly because of the unsanitary aspect of it, the non testing of bodily fluids, potential for disease. And I know Matt would be okay with me being a surrogate, but I can never see him being okay with this particular scenario going down with foreign man sperm injected in his wife, lol.
It's weird to me that people decide to not go through an agency. There are just so many issues w/ surrogacy, it seems like doing it through an agency just adds some assurance for both parties. I get that they would be saving money and possibly giving more to the surrogate this way (if that is why they did it) but it would be a red flag to me, and I would consider it too!

I just finished watching. It didn't work out, which is not a shock. And the girl ended up having a "falling out" with the intended parents and stopped talking to them. Oh, MTV, everything is a trainwreck. But the other story was a beautiful one, ended with twins for a woman who tried 7 years to have children. I cried of course.
You guys have to try and find this and watch it though. It's so WTF. These people take a bus to the intended parents' house, stay there, and turkey baste. I hate being judgy, but I cannot get on board with this weirdness.
Lol at "jizz baste me like a turkey"!! Uhh yea, not a chance in hell would it go down like that. I'm not sure if I'd be emotionally strong enough to be a surrogate. I am absolutely in awe of the women who do such beautiful and selfless things for other women. I know a couple girls who donate their eggs, and even that is emotionally and physically taxing. It's something that I would do if eligible.
I think it's it strange to do that in a non-medical venue and not through an agency. I wouldn't be ok with being injected like a fried turkey on Thanksgiving with random swimmers. :::shivers:::
It seems like there are so many ways jizz basting could go wrong. Especially, since she's using her own eggs. Couldn't she just be like, "Thanks for the baby, folks! Now, where's that child support?!"

I saw that episode. I'm surprised they couldn't find another normal surrogacy to show. I mean, I guess they want to show weird stories, but one go at being a human Twinkie does not really seem to be an accurate representation of the topic. Barf.
Pretty much what everyone else said. I think I would be a surrogate if it was someone I was really close to, but even then, I would have a hard time donating my egg. It would feel so much more like "my" baby if I did that.
And to allow someone to do it without any testing? That's just irresponsible.

Exactly! What would stop her from doing that? There are no contracts or anything that stop her from taking the baby.
For just a second, I thought, well maybe if the family was really so poor that they couldn't possibly afford an agency. And then I thought, then why would they have a baby?? (huh)
