Today: going to the gym and trying to decide on running 2.25 on the treadmill or elliptical plus strength Tomorrow: Probably just a walk, depends on childcare situation Sunday: Run 6-7 miles Tuesday: Run 3 Thurs: Run 3 Fri: Walk 2 miles
Sunday: race
I normally run 20-25 miles a week, but I am so intimidated by doing this half next weekend. I have no problems running 9.5 miles, but I get psyched out over double digits and am kind of freaking out, especially since the last mile or so of my long runs lately have been brutal due to circumstances out of my control (bad weather, choose a route that was way too hilly, etc.) I am not really feeling like running today, so I am sort of leaning towards cross training, but since I may not be able to get out tomorrow, not sure if I should push through. Thanks for your thoughts.
My legs are pretty tired at this point so I'm opting to mostly rest the last week. I've done it before and it's worked out well for me. I didn't include it in the schedule but I also walk DS to school every week day which works out to almost 2 miles.
You have done the training - have faith in it:) I have a HM this Sunday and came down with strep throat on Wednesday - I freaked out because I missed a run on Wednesday but then I reminded myself that I have done all of the training and this week is supposed to be easier.
You will do great and I can't wait to read your race report:)
I think your schedule looks completely balanced & fine. For me I normally run about 3 miles easy with maybe 1/2 mile at the end at race pace 2 days before. Then I take the day before off. Certainly everyone is different & some people like to do an easy run the day before.
I know I've read numerous places that you get the full benefit of a hard run about 10 days later, so anything done within 10 days of the race is just good for keeping your legs going & for mental prep.
