I was approached by a friend of a friend today. She works at a local talent agency and is interested in signing Andrew. It's a legit company - none of that "pay us $1,000 for photos" crap. She wants a selection of photos of him and they'd call me if somebody was interested. I wouldn't really need to put any effort into it upfront. If nobody is interested, we'd just go on with our lives like it's never happened.
I'm probably going to do it. I mean, why not? I've got nothing to lose. I just know that some other probies have agents and I'm wondering about your experience. Are you getting any work? Is it worth the hassle?
Laney has an agent. She hasn't been called yet (i think because shes bald!) but I was told its a slow season for babies. You're right- it takes almost no effort (except I have to send updated pictures and sizes every few months) you should totally do it !!!!
Camden is in an agency. He got called once, but he was 1lb over their weight limit for that shoot so he couldnt do it. Hasn't been called since. I dont know if its because its a slow time and no one needs babies, or because I haven't updated his information in awhile (we're supposed to every 3-4 months. New pics and new stats. I need to get on that), or no one is picking him (I refuse to believe that option). I am going to keep him in it until we have to reapply, which is like, 3-4 years of age I think?? Then they're considered 'children' and not in the baby category. If he doesn't get called in THAT amount of time, then I'll probably pull him out. But, seriously... somebody will want to take his picture, right?!
You should definitely do it! You don't have to accept jobs you're not comfortable with. My sister was a child model and did lots of work until it became too intense and they wanted her to miss school. She looks back on it as a great experience!
That totally sounds legit, do it! Especially if you wouldn't have to drive more than 1 hour to an audition/gig. My friend has a kid that is in an agency and they were approached the same way. I did the baby's first headshots when she was 9 months old and she auditioned ONCE and got a commercial. It was shocking! The only problem is that LA is like a 3 hour +++ drive so it's tough on them but they are still doing it. She hasn't gotten much since bc the kid was bald for so long. She has lots of hair now so we are doing a new session soon. My friend's sister got a commercial through a different agency and it ended up in the superbowl. I would totally do it if I was in LA - at least for the first few years until it starts affecting the kid's life/family life too much. Free college money!
We have a meeting with an agency next week, so I am all for it!!
You can say no to whatever job comes your way. You can stop whenever you want. College money One of my best friends lives in OC and her sons model. One of them has been pretty successful. If you get the Pottery Barn Kids catalog, you have seen one of them.
