We raced the Rio Grande reverse sprint this morning, which was part of the USAT retro series - super fun!
Ill let CB share about her race (spoiler alert: she killed it!). I felt a little sluggish because I've been out of town eating and sitting for a week, but I'm still super pleased with my race, so we'll call it an effective taper . Run: 26:48 (8:39 pace) T1: 1:08 Bike: 33:27 (18.3 mph) T2: 1:26 Swim: 9:31 (450)
1:12:21, which was good for AG 3rd! My first podium finish at a triathlon! Woop!
The overall female winner finished in 59 something - amazing, and overall 2nd is an xterra pro, Shonny vanlandingham in 1:02.
I need to get my transitions under 1:00, and a pool swim is a shit show so whatever! Otherwise I'm pleased!

It was so fun to hang with kams this morning and watch her rock the first tri of the season! Contrary to what she claims, I am sure she will on the podium many more times to come.
My race felt fine. I'm usually a solid middle-of-the-packer, so I ended up right around what I expected. It was beautiful out today and I just felt so lucky to be out there having fun. Come play with us soon, zoidberg!
Thanks so much for being excited with us!! It was so fun!
trigal - we have to do that from oct-may because it's too cold to swim first (and we live in the desert so open water is limited). The problem, though, is that it gets incredibly congested, especially for women. With a wave start, I was swimming over mbop & bop men the entire time, and spent 75y stuck behind two guys who were right next to each other and wouldn't let me pass at the wall. I much prefer open water, and my times are not even remotely comparable. And, the swim distance is shorter than our ow sprints.

Can you tell I hate pool swims?
Yeah, that would be annoying. At least if you were in the open water, there would be a bit more space!
And, from October to May, we don't race up here in the Northeast! Well, not triathlons anyway!

Yes - the space in ow changes everything! And the stop/starts at the wall with a ton of people stopping to breathe - blah.
We don't do many in the colder months, but I love that we're able to keep it rolling. I raced a reverse sprint in December! It snowed the next day, lol!

In a situation like that, I grab slow dudes ankle and yank him back and then swim around him. No, I've never done that before.

I did that several times ,well, pulled on their ankles until passing at the wall at least! There were some serious egos that refused to be chicked though!
