He was unable to use his hind legs and was pulling himself around with just his front legs. We felt bad because you don't want to see any living creature suffering. We were going to call Animal Control, mostly because we didn't want to approach it while it was alive, but about ten minutes after we first noticed him having trouble, we found him behind a rock and no longer moving. We are guessing he fell out of the tree in the back yard. Sad, yes, but I'm also completely grossed out and will not go into the yard until DH gets rid of it.

Last Saturday DH and I were on our way home from a wedding and saw a cat get run over by the SUV in front of us. It broke my heart to see it hurt and freaked out. It ran to the side of the street by a building and just laid down and didn't move. We wanted to do something, but it was obvious that he was beyond saving. It was just awful. I hope it wasn't someone's pet.

We saw the same thing one time. I was traumatized because the cat looked straight at us as it tried to claw it's way off the access road using only it's front legs because the car had flattened the cat's midsection.
One time DH and I were coming home for a midnight run to Jack in the Crack. Pulled into the driveway to see two pitbulls attacking a cat. The dogs turned and looked at us and the cat lifted it's head. The dogs ran off but not before running into our garage (hindsight we should have closed them in the garage and called animal control) and the cat died shortly after.
