Oh, it'll be fun. Trust me.
Let me preface this. We bought the house last summer. By the time we closed, the front garden was full of weeds and dead plants. I gutted most of it out and planted my own garden. I cannot for the life of me remember what perennials I planted, and now the identities of the tons of bulbs I discovered have been revealed. Unfortunately, I'm oblivious as to what is one of my perennials coming up and what is a weed.
I call this game: Flower? or Weed? A. (Does it matter that they're fuzzy?)
B. (This is hard to see, but I have these things that look like miniature "spike" plants or giant blades of grass. They blend in though. There's another one in exhibit A.)
C. (Those white flowers. I'm thinking weed.)
And to AW how it all looks together, my front yard! (Yes, I still have to weed in front of the bushes.)
Oh, and to give you an idea of the cost of living where I live, my house cost less than $75K, and it doesn't have foundation issues.
I'm not sure since I don't know anything about gardening but it looks great. And that tree is beautiful!!!! Is that an egg Micah didn't find on Easter in the pic

Ha! No. He played in his PNP under the shade of the tree while I did yard work. Once I started tossing weeds out of the garden, he started throwing his toys out of the PNP. We're too cheap to buy him ball pit balls, so he has a crap ton of eggs to play with!
And I sit in my living room staring at that tree, because it's mesmerizing to me. We used to rent down the street, and I always loved this house's yard. I had no idea that we ended up buying "that" tree that I looked forward to on my way to and from work!

I like that tree story! We have a similiar one, when we were house hunting we turned into this neighborhood on accident trying to turn around. I said to DH " well we can't afford anything here". A couple weeks later I saw a house online and fell instantly in love with it. When we drove to it I couldn't believe it was in the neighborhood I had liked and thought we couldn't afford. It's a small neighborhood with tons of old oak trees which I love and they were in our budget. We bought the house 5 years ago. It's older but kept up nicely which just didn't seem affordable compared to what we had seen.
I know what A is and it is driving me crazy that I can't put a name to it... I'll keep looking.
I think B is Quackgrass (really invasive and difficult to get rid of. Dig it out carefully and get all of the root or use a very localized weed killer)
C could be Hairy Bittercress. It should be pretty easy to just pull out when it's small, but if it is Hairy Bittercress it will have a taproot that might require some additional digging.
The tree and flowerbed are beautiful! I love flowering trees in springtime
