I am considering a half marathon at the end of September. Pricing goes up this week so I'd like to make decision and commit.
I've been running since Dec and have completed a 5k and 7k already this year. Currently I am training for 10k in June. I've also started cycling this week since the weather has finally (yeah!) come around. So am feeling like I have a good start and would have time to fully train. I am about 80% there but am wondering if I am crazy for even considering it. So anyone want to push me over the hump to doing my fist half?
Yes, I really think it's doable! I'm in a similar boat, I just ran my first 10k a week ago today. I took this whole week of and starting Monday I'm going to start training for a Half in Sept. My longest run to date is 8 miles and I should have a 10 miler in a few weeks. I feel like once I break the double digit run, the Half is very feasible.
If you are currently running, and continuing to progress in your distance, and still enjoy the sport, then I think you'd be crazy NOT to challenge yourself with the half distance. Go sign up!
I am over halfway through training for my first half and very happy. While yesterday's ran sucked, you will have those. The fact I am looking forward to tomorrow's run shows I am in it. If you are running like you are and considering it, I say the only answer is to do it!

i don't really think anyone on here is going to tell you to skip it that's for sure. I am on a bit of a high today since I had a great race this morning. What is holding you back? a 10k in june and then upping your mileage to get up to 13.1 is totally doable. i saw all kinds of people running this today (some even behind me!!) you can totally do it if you train right for it.
