G has been in the toddler room at daycare for just over a week and she's now insisting that we do things at home like they do things there. She has been fighting diaper changes like crazy until I realized that they have the toddlers stand on the diaper changing table to get changed. Of course she can't stand yet without holding onto something so I've been sitting on the floor and having her hold the side of her crib. Then she patiently waits while I put on her diaper.
For the last several days she's been pushing her highchair tray away when sitting down to eat. I know she's hungry since she signs "eat" and does eat when we eventually get her tray attached. Finally, I realized that they don't have highchairs in the toddler room...they sit at a little table and eat off of placemats. Sigh. We eat in built-in breakfast booth and I can't figure out how to get her close enough to the table to eat until she gets (much) bigger.
Are your LOs insisting on acting more "grown up" lately?
I hope you can find a solution for eating! I have no advice =(
Zoe wants to walk every where. "Strollers are lame! What, why are you picking me up to cross this street?! I will flail and kick and cry until you put me back on my feet!" I feel like she's officially a toddler, because omg with the tantrums.

Once I realized at lunchtime today, I started putting food on her tray before attaching it. It's currently working as enough of a distraction to let us snap it in, but I suspect she'll catch on soon.
G just recently started making a face that reminds me of a Zoe goofy face but I haven't been able to capture it on camera...scrunched up nose and squinty eyes. Not necessarily an unhappy face, just a goofy one.
She's not walking yet but we've definitely hit the beginning of tantrums.
Maybe one of those chairs that actually attaches to the end of the table?
D insists on walking too- like Zoe. I try to change her diaper standing up sometimes but it doesn't always work so well, but she wiggles so much laying down.
Well Lillian now prefers for me to lay her down in bed instead of rocking to sleep, which is how they do it in the toddler room. No cribs, they sleep on a cot. I still rock her a bit at night but for my own snuggle time for a few minutes.
We bought her a picnic table for her birthday and keep it in the house. I give her snacks and her breakfast at it and she loves it! Seeing 1 year olds at a table sitting and eating is by far the cutest thing ever!! I went up to drop off her inhaler and peeked in last week while she was eating lunch. I almost cried. There were 2 tables with 4 kids each, and she was holding a untensil, which I had ever given her. I started also putting her food on little plates.
I'm not sure if they change standing up there, she still hates diaper changes so maybe I will try.
