The one thing that jumps out to me that could skew this is that a little over half of the runners returned the form. And so those that ended up dropping out or in the hospital may have thought their form was more important to return than those who finished and were fine. ditto psyri. a 60% response rate is really good. my biggest concern with this would be that you're more likely to get a response from the people that had adverse events.
I'm also kind of shocked that so many people take OTC pain relievers before races and at such high doses. jeez people. maybe you shouldn't be racing if you are in so much pain you need 3 ibuprofens
