i want one. i think it seems like a good idea. and we'll be on two floors with this newborn (when L was miniature, we were in a 1-floor condo), so the portability is attractive. also, i didn't have and didn't use a swing the first time so i like the idea of continuing not to spend scads of money on that shit.
in other money-spending news, i did NOT get the $190 white jeans, instead i ordered some from gap for 40% off (and also got some place adorable black, work-appropriate ankle pants and 3 tanks. for less than $190. i hope they look good). and i DID get this for a coming home outfit for my gender unknown halloween-time baby:
will be either girlified or boyified with hot pink socks/hat or navy sock/hat. i like when they're teeny tiny and you can dress them like they're going to the gym. all soft and cuddly.
I am very passionate about the rnp. Absolutely you should get one.
From day one Leo only got up twice a night in that thing. I am serious even in the worst of the worst I was only getting up twice a night with a baby. Best.thing.ever
And our transition to the crib was easy once he was ready.
Yes, mostly definitely get a RnP. DD slept in it until we moved her to her crib a couple weeks ago. The portability was great, we even brought it over to Grandma's when she has stayed there a couple times.
I never had one. I wanted one, but decided to wait and see if we actually needed it. We didn't, but I know a lot of people swear by them. They aren't expensive, so get one if you want one!
Hell yes to the RNP, didn't have one for ds (we also were in a 1 level condo at the time). dd slept exclusively in the RNP for the 1st 6 weeks. We still use it
What's the difference between a bouncer and a rnp?? I have 2 bouncers, one folds super easily so I can put it in the bathroom when I shower or packs easily into the car for day trips to my sister's.
and that outfit is adorable!! Did you decide that you're going to be "surprised" when you push out another girl? ()
oh, god no. the doctor's office just ran the wrong blood test so it didn't report out the baby's sex (don't worry, i'm making them pay. monetarily and emotionally.). i'll find out at 20 weeks.

rnp is made for sleeping. So I felt more at ease with using it for longer periods of time. It is also cocked back more so they are more secure. Does that make sense. It is like a little hammock of loveliness.
My boys just turned a year and I wish I still had them. IT was the ONLY thing they would sleep in for the first 6 months. They are so freaking portable too. We used it as their cribs when we traveled.
I get so confused when people don't buy it. I am like "Do you love misery?"
LOL I strongly dislike the RnP for absolutely no good reason. I always want to say "NO DON'T BUY IT!" and then realize I can't back it up with anything reasonable (*raises eyebrow to you know who*).
We did have the boys sleep in their swings for naps until 12wks, etc., so I don't actually there is much of a difference. It just depends on the set-up you want, physically, in your home, or what you need.
I will say the RnP seems really portable. We wouldn't have been able to do what we did if we didn't get space-saver swings.

I used to even take the RnP in the bathroom when I was showering. Man, seriously, I'm like eddy. I'm obsessed with that thing.
This. It wasn't just for sleeping/naps. It was a great place to put her while I was doing things. I kept it in the bathroom for showering for several months. We even brought it out on the deck once when we had company over. So portable!

cville I hope you don't mind me asking a question too because I was wondering about the rnp myself. On amazon there is a regular one and a deluxe one. Does the deluxe do any miracle tricks that makes it worth the extra $20?

I think the deluxe just has a soft insert for infants, which isn't really needed, we just laid a supper soft blanket in there with under him. I love that it is set at an angle for my little boy with the reflux.

Delux has more padding. There is some concern about getting a flat head from the rnp so I think they added more fluff for this reason. I also put an extra blanket under the cover for extra cushion. Leo did have a flatish head. So did Jack and we didn't have rnp. Now at 11 months it is totally normal.
Here is my LO right now in her rnp. Ignore the messed up swaddle she likes to bust her arms out. The portability is great I have brought it into the bathroom, kitchen, etc with me.
we didn't get one, and G sleeps in his bouncy seat for naps, and in a bassinet at night that we borrowed from a friend. It works for him, but he also sleeps in a rnp at the baby sitters for naps. He's versatile.
Get one if you want! i havent heard of anyone that has one and doesn't love it.
Omg yes, get the RnP, we didn't get it until DD was like 3 months and I kicked myself - hard - that we didn't do it earlier. As for Pack and Plays, we never used the infant change table or sleeper thing, we only started using it for travelling since she outgrew the RnP, you don't need anything fancy, it's a bed and containment unit.
