We went to the wedding of one of H's coworkers over the weekend. All in all, it was nice. A few things that stood out:
- At the reception, there was beer, lemonade, and tea to drink. Soda or any other booze was cash. I don't mind a cash bar for booze, but $3 for a diet coke sucks hard - DJ announced several times that the dollar dance was coming up, but it still hadn't happened by the time we left. Most of the other guests had left at this time - There was a seating chart, but it was on the far end of the room away from the entrance we used. All of the guests had to cross through the room where the reception was, look for their name, then go back in and find their table. Not a big deal, just odd - They had those baskets in the bathrooms. In the mens' room basket there was Vaseline - AMAZING oreo truffles on a little candy buffet. Would have loved it if these were the favors. Actual favors were personalized jars of honey
I actually would have been happy with the drink choices and even the $3 pop. I've been to many receptions where pop is $7-8 and drinks were $11-12. I loathe not having any free options besides water especially if its at a nicer place (imo, select a cheaper hall so you can afford to provide beverages).

$7-8 for a pop? Are we talking US dollars here?? That seems a bit ridiculous.
But then again, I'm cheap as fuck and think $3 for pop is a lot too.

Maybe that was their "subtle" GTFO, and the DJ was supposed to keep saying it until everybody left.

Yep--the three I'm thinking of were in the midwest and one wedding was in the middle of BFE at a really crappy hotel. H/I apparently know a lot of sh^tty people because I haven't been invited to an open bar or at least pop for free wedding in years.
