I don't post here much, but I'm hoping you guys can help me out. My coworker's birthday is this week, and I can't find anywhere in town that will do a vegan dessert, so I was thinking of making it myself. I'm a fairly proficient baker, but I've never done vegan dessert so any suggestions for something yummy and easy? She likes dark chocolate... Thanks!
look at oh she glows website and peas and thank you. They're my favorites for dessert. I also own the veganomicon cookbook. I can look through there and see if anything looks great.
I make a whipped chocolate mousse. Its really good even though it sounds gross.
Melt some chocolate, vegan obviously. Blend some extra soft light tofu until smooth and airy. Mix chocolate in and blend some more. Leave in fridge for a few hours. Or freeze it for a frozen treat.
You can also make banana "ice cream" by freezing bananas and then blending them up too. Add PB and chocolate. yum.
Crazy cake. I make this still (discovered it in my vegan days). It's amazing. I use the frosting/glaze from the back of the Hershey's cocoa container. (Use a milk alternative instead of cow's milk) allrecipes.com/recipe/crazy-cake/
Best part? You make it in the baking pan, so no dishes to wash!
Another vote for the vegan mousse but I make it into a pie (after Alton Brown told me I could.) I add extracts to mix it up - peppermint in winter is really good - but it's fantastic as is.
