I've been running for almost nine months now and trained for a half marathon with no ill effects at all on my legs. Last week I started doing 30 Day Shred and within a few days I noticed that my shins were hurting. I'm pretty sure that 30DS gave me shin splints so I've decided to stop doing her cardio (jumping jacks and squats/lunges, etc) that seem to aggravate the shin splints but can I still keep on running? Right now, they hurt pretty badly, more so on one leg than the other. It seems like my shins hurt for the two or three miles but after that they seem to stop hurting as much. Should I just stop all activity for a week to let everything heal up?
I really don't know the answer to this since I suffered from shin splints all the time a few years back. I generally kept running through them except when it got super painful. I know in HS track, our coaches would make those of us suffering from shin splints run on grass. Less impact, maybe? Maybe try doing 30DS and subbing low impact activities when she does the jumping lunges, etc. and keep running and see if that helps?

Thanks ladies! I'm running a relay half marathon (so only a 10k) on may 19th so I'm going to not run this week and hope they go away. I am going to keep on doing 30ds but subbing low impact moves for all Jillian's cardio. :-)
