We left for the Turks and Caicos early on Wednesday morning so we were there by noon time which was great.
The hotel was gorgeous, it was really small and quiet as it was way at the end of Grace Bay beach which is where almost all the resorts are located. A few guests arrived on Wednesday with us, but most of the rest of the guests arrived on Thursday. So we ran to the grocery store and put together the welcome bags that afternoon. Then we had dinner with my parents that night.
Thursday - We had a walk through with the wedding planner who ended up being a god sent. Then we were able to go to lunch and the beach with our friends. That night my parents had family over the house the had rented. My parents met my MIL for the first time that evening! MIL is really antisocial so was totally out of her element.
Friday - We went out with 15 of our guests on a half day snorkeling trip which was a blast. Then came back had lunch and then had the ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner that night. All guests were invited to the rehearsal dinner which was at a Mediterranean restaurant. For entertainment we had a belly dancer and fire spinner!
Saturday - Wedding Day! I had breakfast with DH that morning then spent the rest of the morning in the pool having cocktails with my girlfriends until the hair and makeup people arrived. My room overlooked the ocean and we had a big living room area so I hung out with my mom, bridesmaids and friends prior to the wedding and was able to watch them set up for the ceremony. We did first look pictures prior to the ceremony which were a ton of fun and really helped to relax us. The ceremony and reception really flew by. We did the reception at a different location so took pictures with everyone following the ceremony and then they took a bus over to the reception location while we took some sunset pics alone. We were able to get to the reception site a little early so got to be there for part of the cocktail hour.
Sunday - we moved over to a different hotel for our honeymoon which was a bit more centrally located. The honeymoon was so relaxing and was just what we need. We ate at a different restaurant every night and they were all fantastic.
Overall, I am so happy that we did a destination wedding. I think we had the perfect number of people (35) so I was able to spend quality time with everyone. The location was awesome and all of our guests had a blast. For anyone thinking of doing a destination wedding I would highly recommend hiring a wedding planner who is independent from the resort, ours was a god sent and really kept everything on track and make excellent vendor recommendations.
