I tried those mochi things you recommended tonight.
Holy crap. They're AMAZING. I fucked them up the first time I made them because I put the soy sauce in a very hot pan and they burned, but the second time they were all fluffy and crispy and delicious.
They are not the sweet dessert Mochi balls that some people might be thinking of, they are basically just plain brown rice and get all chewy and amazing when you cook them.
They are basically little blocks of rice flour dough, no actually rice grain texture remains. And when you cook them they get soft and chewy in the middle and crisp on the outside.
