We need that at my office. A coworker not only cooks fish in the microwave but cooks it from raw/frozen so it's not just a simple reheat of last night's dinner. The whole place REEKS so bad - I actually gag as if I am going to vomit it is so bad. We've talked to the person and they just don't care about anyone but themself.
I did once like 8 years ago. I microwaved my fish and went downstairs to meet my friend (instead of eating in the lunch room right there). The next day, at the lunch table, everyone was talking about the microwaved fish and how stinky it was and whothefuck does this. I was like "oh, interesting. I wasn't here yesterday, I had lunch with a friend".
Years ago, somebody where I work burned popcorn in the microwave to the point of the fire alarms going off and fire trucks showing up. Microwave popcorn is forbidden now. Fish should be.

It was banned at my work for the same reason, no fire department but the microwave was ruined.
We had a break room on the 3rd floor of our 4 story building. We had a group of contract workers that took their lunch break at 2 PM everyday. Rather than eating in our cheap (company subsidizes the prices) and good, cafeteria that includes microwaves, etc. They would microwave in this small break room. If I remember right they were cooking fish in seaweed. It permeated everything. Right outside the break room is a stair well that everyone uses rather than the elevators. Even though the stairwell doors are closed all the time, if you stepped in to the stairwell when they were cooking you'd about throw up. A few people did. This went on for about 2 months and finally HR told them to stop cooking whatever it was in the microwave. It may have been just about the worst thing I've ever smelled and I can take a lot.
There is some pizza, I don't know which local company, that people bring in and it just makes me want to vomit. They don't do it often, in fact it's been a very long time. I think it was the cheese on it but I'm not sure, other pizzas don't affect me.
Most of my co-workers fish for sport so we have salmon and halibut all over the place. Plain or smoked.
I agree with the PP. What people eat is their own business. It's not like they're smoking cigarettes or their food is emitting toxic fumes FFS. The smell goes away eventually.
What bugs me is when my co-workers apply perfume at work. Not if they're wearing it already--just when they apply it to themselves at work. It kills my nose!

The last attorney I worked for would heat up really nasty fish leftovers about every other day, but repeatedly brought up this story about the secretary who ate "really stinky cheese". The poor woman was eating her lunch at her desk, on the opposite side of our office, and he only came in contact with the smell because he went the long way to go to the reception area to get the newspaper. And this 1 time incident occurred 8 years ago. I do not miss him.
