That looks exactly the same, the belt is just lower. Unless you have a big belly I wouldn't recommend maternity clothes, as they have extra fabric in the front.
I've never been pregnant and I own a couple of Target maternity shirts because I loved the colors and the side-ruching helps disguise my not-pregnant-just-fat gut.
I totally bought one on accident once, you know how the sections kind of just run into each other. I didn't even realize it until my friend who was pregnant at the time mentioned she had the same dress. We laughed about it, but honestly it's one of my favorite dresses.
Have you tried them on? You might be pleasantly surprised to find the non-maternity dress more flattering once it's on. I would hesitate to buy the maternity dress because you run the risk of actually looking pregnant.
I wear my Motherhood Maternity fitted t-shirts even though I am not pregnant. They don't have any extra fabric or anything, they are just longer, which I like.

I haven't yet. I couldn't decide if it was cut differently or if it looked better on the pregnant lady because it was more form-fitting.
I have a pair of mat pants that I bought in small and medium when I was pregnant. The medium fit then, but I loved them so much that I kept the small and still wear them (just wore them Monday, in fact).
I bought a maternity tankini bathing suit top. Mainly because I couldn't find a regular one that was big enough for my boobs. I did love that the looser body part hid my gut.
I have a t-shirt from the maternity section too but I liked that it was longer than the regular ones.
I accidentally bought a maternity bathing suit at Target last season. I had no idea...it was just a once piece but when I got it home it had the netting on the inside of it to cradle the bump.
No, I didn't even get to wear maternity clothes while pregnant. I had hyperemesis and my pre pregnancy clothes were even too big.
Good for you? Way to add nothing to this post.
As for the OP's question - Yes, I wore a few maternity shirts before getting pregnant and one of my favorite t-shirts is gap maternity. It's nice to have a little extra length. I'm not sure about dresses though, they seem a little riskier for the non-pregnant.

My comment wasn't meant to come off as bragging. I was one of those women who actually looked forward to having a baby bump, but alas it wasn't in the cards. I did get a healthy baby out of it though. Sorry if I offended anyone.
I have, though unknowingly. I once bought a skirt with some ruching on the belly- it's actually one of my favorite skirts! One day someone pointed out to me that the ruching wasn't for style, it was to allow for an expanding belly! So now I make sure to wear that skirt whenever I'm going out for a big dinner
I wore some of the non-ruched tanks, but only because they were longer than my normal tanks.
As for that dress, am I the only one seeing that they are exactly the same, except the maternity one has a body form in it while the non-maternity is lying flat? I think that is what's making you like it better, quite honestly. Once your body is in it, the non-maternity version will look better, IMO.
