before getting all the right diagnoses for my hashimoto's and PCOS, i could not lose any weight, no matter what i did, ate, or anything else (this had been going on since last february or so, and things got worse in june).
in february, i got what was supposed to be correct dosages of several meds and i actually started feeling human again. and i lost 7lbs! hooray!
then in march, i had what my endo called a "false positive" - basically he said my body got a little medicine that made things start working right and caused me to feel way better than i actually was. once my immune system caught back up, it went into overdrive attacking my thyroid again, and actually made things worse (blood test levels got worse, etc.). i started feeling off and made an appointment and found this out. so, they doubled some things, tripled others, and sent me on my way. over the course of the false positive (7-10 days?), i gained back the 7lbs, plus another 3. without changing anything. fuck you body!
as of this morning, i re-lost those 7lbs, and another 6! i am so happy to see some progress again and i know it's possible to have another positive swing and have to be adjusted again since that's pretty much a reality for life with thyroid crap, but i don't feel so discouraged anymore. it was so frustrating to work so hard at exercising and eating right for over a year and see NO positive results, only negative ones.
and, since i lost those 7lbs twice i am totally counting it as 20lbs total in my head. lol
I have PCOS too and losing weight can be a total mindfuck. I've lost 20, but am currently up 2lbs over my lightest...without doing anything different in the past week. Its frustrating. I need to schedule an appointment with someone and probably get back on Metformin, but I'm DREADING it because it fucks my stomach up so badly.
Anyways. CONGRATS!!!!
thank you!
and yes, metformin is an asshole. however, they tripled my dose of it and switched me from ER to regular, and i have had 1/10 the problems i was before. apparently some people do better NOT on the ER variety even though that is pretty counter-intuitive. i'm taking 1500mg/day right now (supposed to up to 2000 slowly) and i have only felt sick a handful of times on it, versus almost every day with ER. so you might ask about it?
Congratulations and kick ass! It's amazing that you persevered and pushed through; so many people give up.
Yes.
Congrats, FYC. That is awesome. Hashimoto's is a bitch. I couldn't imagine having PCOS on top of that. And your suit picture looked fantastic, you don't even look like you need to lose weight.
