Yes, I did it for weight loss and to help regulate my basal body temp toney pregnant. I lost 8lbs in 3 weeks and got pregnant on the first try. It's relaxing for the most part. My acupuncturist would use an electrode dealio that vibrated the needles-if I was falling asleep and the wave pattern changed it would shock the shit out of me so that kind of sucked. You feel really relaxed after though.
Lurker with some experience. I had acupuncture for neck pain I had from a car accident. I went for a few months at least. There was no "aha moment" where the pain just went away, but it was significantly less. After a few months though it seemed to stop working for me though.
The first time I went I was freaked out (I HATE needles and pain, etc) but seriously, you cannot feel it. I told my acupuncturist how uncomfortable I was the first time and he said if I ever "felt" a needle to tell him and he would take it out. They really are so small that you do not feel them. I had them all over my body from my ears and head to my ankles, shoulders, etc. If I remember correctly they might have itched the slightest bit when he took them out (maybe 30 minutes per session)? But it was about 9 years ago, so I do not remember.
I think it is very worth going a few sessions at the least.
I go for Ibs, anxiety and to help regulate my cycle. I really like it a lot. I find it really relaxing. I think it has helped with all 3.
I'm hoping it helps with anxiety and skin allergies.
What's a session like? Do you talk or is it just them putting the needles in where they need to?
We usually talk at the beginning of every appointment to see how I am feeling and what I need to have her work on. You can talk when they put the needles in, but then they leave you alone for about 20 min. and you just lay there and relax.
