I am going to a huge consignment sale tonight, with nothing in mind that I want to buy...
But I was wondering if there were any toys or baby equipment that you/ your baby loved from about 6 ish months to a year. We are stocked up on toys for now, but i wanted to check out things that he would like a little later.
We have an exersaucer, but other than that, not a lot of stuff for that age.
we just broke this out for DS and he loves it. He's not yet ready to 'walk' with the walker part, but that front piece comes off and he plays with it ALL. THE. TIME.

Anything that is his brother's, lol. Activity cube, things that are easy to hold onto and chew - we have a set of little people zoo animals that he loves right now, board books, crinkly/cloth books, anything with a tag, stacking cups are a hit right now too.
Hart got this as a baby and to this day it's still one of his favorite toys
I have been thinking about these, but didn't know what age kids were when they really understood that the blocks fit in the different shaped holes, so I have been holding off buying one.
My sister just got them the B You drum and YES it's a huge hit. Those egg shakers?! Omg you'd think those were golden eggs, they carry them everywhere!
My kids aren't as interested in the shape sorter, it bums me out. They will take the pieces and do in/out with the sorter top off (in/out is their favorite game after open/close) but they don't care about sorting.
Also Sake the puzzles with like 3 large pieces? Get those for later b/c they're expensive and if you can get a deal you'll be happy later! The boys will play with them but I think closer to 15-18m is when they'll try to use them more. Though apparently sorting/etc isn't their forte, lol.
Oh- that was also a big time for "cooking in the kitchen with mama". i.e. banging on pots and pans while I made dinner. If they have the metal ikea pots/pans- grab them. They are the noisiest and therefore the best.
At the daycare all the babies are obsessed with these homemade shakers. Water bottle without the label, put bells in it, coffee beans or beads, squares of colorful construction paper. All the babies in his class love these things and DS is the youngest at 5.5 months.

It took him a long time to figure out he could sort them. At first I would (and then he learned to) stack them up on top of each other to make a big tower. Then I'd sing the Go Go Godzilla song and he'd hulk smash the tower down and we'd start all over again
Now he's all a beautiful mind obsessed with his baby shape blocks. He sleeps with the blue circle on occasion

DS1 started out just doing the in/out thing but he, at 3, still loves that shape sorter. It actually impressed me with just how much he loved it from 18-24 months.
Ditto on the puzzles! They are expensive but DS1 loved them and has progressed well through other puzzles. I think Ninja is right that 15-18 months is about when he really got into the 3 piecers. He didn't progress to larger, "real" board puzzles until 20 months or so and even then it requires a lot of guidance and interaction from us.
Do you have that walker luckyval? J hasn't tried to use it yet, but the idea of her doing so kind of scares me. It move so fast! I'm afraid it would just roll away and she'd face plant. I am thinking about just turning it around and making it a wagon already.
eta: and yeah, we are big FP fans.
One of my favorite things was when the boys would push faster than they could walk and they'd just creeeep down while still hanging onto the thing.
W loved this thing starting at that age, and played with it for a long time. (LeapFrog Discovery House)
He also loved the Elephant Ball Shooter Thing. He got that for his first birthday, and still plays with it now at 2.5. I like it more now though, because those damn balls fly out and roll everywhere, and now he can go find them.
He loved the block/shape sorter too. At that point he was happy as a clam to just play with the blocks and put them back in the basket. Then he loved stacking and knocking them down. Eventually he figured how to put them through the holes. He also had a FP activity table that made a LOT of noise, but he loved it and it was definitely used.

We have these too! Add food coloring and glitter to a water bottle and it's magical!
I'm definitely going to do this! Water bottles are their faaaaavorite. Weird kids.
I also want to make little felt "scenes" for them to play with. They like stickers, but don't necessarily like the "stick." Marc especially. So I am hoping that the felt-to-felt connectedness (lol) will make a sticker effect w/o them going "aaahh ah ah ah" as they shake their hand trying to get a sticker off.
(I know they are too young to use stickers "correctly" (hence the "ah ah ah!") but we had some lying around so I said why not. They do this with them and move the stickers around wherever they want)
