I want to make little laundry bags for A for when we take our trip next month. Either just a drawstring or a zipper, but something I can put wet/soiled clothes in and toss in the diaper bag/backpack until it can be washed. I don't want to rely on plastic bags.
If I buy a laminated cotton would that do the trick? What if I doubled it up? Rip-stop nylon?
I would think that two layers of laminated cotton would do the trick. I would make it so that cotton sides are together on the interior and don't show. I would probably do a drawstring just because I think a zipper would be more trouble than it is worth.
Disclaimer: I would never rely on my own sewing skills to make a waterproof, leak-proof bag, since both the zipper and the needle holes present a lot of issues if strict water-tightness is the main concern, but...
There are some tutorials online for diaper wetbags using PUL fabric along with regular cotton.
I have a couple of PlanetWise wetbags and they are fool proof and very cute. Never had a leak at all.
You should look here if you decide to go with laminated fabric. I have used some of their laminated cotton for a project and I am obsessed with their prints.
Thanks captainmel and partiallysunny! I was just looking online and saw some PUL. I don't know why I didn't think to google a tutorial. The construction seemed simple enough, but it's good to have something to follow.
Mel - For some reason, even though I suck at sewing, I like doing zippers. I don't know why.

I love both of those! I keep putting myself on a fabric ban because I have a whole cabinet of fabric but I keep finding more fabric that I NEED!!! Boyfriend has accused me of liking to buy fabric more than I like making things with fabric.
