We're driving from Baltimore to the Outer Banks in June, and I wanted to find a way to locate good stopping points. Like restaurants, maybe a McD's playground, etc. Something where we can get out with DS and let him run/stretch.
Is there a source out there that does this? I'm so technologically ignorant.
Lol, I'm just being a dick. But seriously, maybe just start by looking at Yelp or Trip Advisor for some towns you will be driving through.
LOL
Yeah, I feel like an idiot. I tried "fun attractions from Baltimore to Outer Banks" and "fun places to stop from Maryland to Outer Banks" and it's all people talking about traffic and travel times.
Thanks for posting this, because we're planning a road trip for this summer to unfamiliar areas and I'm trying to research what we can do along the way!
I usually just check Yelp (I look at our route on Google Maps and search for specific towns along the way). Plus I make posts on these boards for specific areas.
ETA: I bought this travel book a few years ago, which has been useful. Amazon has some used versions for cheap. I also keep an eye out for travel books when we go to thrift shops.
For the love of God do not take your kids to McDonald's!! Just kidding.
Actually, the drive from Bmore to OBX isn't that bad. Take 301 to 17 and head towards VA Beach. We did that last year and the only traffic we hit was getting into the OBX.
I'm going to let DH figure out directions (i'm really bad with maps) but I wanted to find some attractions or something.
And if we do take DS to Mickey D's, I'll be sure to buy him the EXTRA LARGE COKE

Yeah, there's not too much to see that way but it's only like 5 hrs, tops. How old are your kids?
DS is 2.5
My plan is to pile into the car at like 5AM and just go until we need to stop for breakfast at 8 or so. We can't get into the house until after 12noon, so there's no point in rushing to get straight there.
Do you happen to have a GPS? I know with mine, if I put where I am going, it has a points of interest part of it that lets you know what is along the route, and then research beforehand and pick your places.
